🌊East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club are getting ready for the 2026 season! 🌊

It's only a week to go before we are back in the water as a swimming club for the Summer season!

If you have been a member before, please renew your membership. If you are new to joining our club, please sign up to one of our taster sessions.

First session back for previous/current members: Tuesday 14th April. Registration from 5.45 p.m. at Shore Road (usual place around the corner from Easy Riders).

Swim briefing at 6.15 p.m. (everyone must attend this if they are swmming), followed by swim.

First Dryside taster session on 28th April.

Full taster sessions (Meet at 5.30 p.m.) are on:
26th May
2nd June
16th June
7th July
21st July
4th August

(Only 10 places available on each Full Taster session - so hurry to sign up for one!)

Don't forget warm layers to put on afterwards. Sea temperature is 10.5 degrees Celsius today, but climbing up fast!!

Great news...from 12 a.m. tonight you can renew your EDOWSC membership, or book a taster session if you are new, and join East Dorset Open Water Swimming Club.

We meet every Tuesday evening (registration from 5.45 p.m, swim briefing at 6.10 p.m, swim at 6.15 p.m), at Shore Road. The start date is 14th April and we swim through the season until mid October.

If you love swimming and want to get fit and swim with others, with safety cover each week, this fabulous swimming club is for you!

Congratulations everyone who swam yesterday at our Seahorse Swim event, at Knoll Beach, Studland! You were all amazing! We had 235 competitors swimming and everyone finished! We raised a fabulous £1500 for the Seahorse Trust and £2500 for the RLSS. Thank you everyone for your support.

A huge thank you to our incredible safety team! 💙
Although the £2,500 donation from the EDOWSC Seahorse Swim organisers is presented to RLSS Poole Lifeguard—who provide over half the safety team, all the equipment, and set up the course—we’re proud to share this donation with:
🚤 Southbourne Surf Lifesaving Club
🏄 Bournemouth Lifeguard Corps
🌊 RLSS Boscombe Lifeguards
🛶 EDOWSC & Poole Harbour Canoe Club
These amazing teams provided safety boats, paddlers, and shore walkers. Without their support, we simply couldn’t set the course or provide the safety cover needed to make the event happen.
In total, 43 volunteers made up the safety team, led by RLSS Poole Lifeguard. It was truly a multi-club effort, and we’re incredibly grateful to every single person involved.
👏 Thank you all!

🥇Congratulations to our 1st place 2k winners: Henry, Gavin Dudfield, Sarah Dodds and Nuala Muir-Cochrane. 🥇And 1st place 3.8k winners: Tony Attfield, Christopher Hopton, Lucy Carter and Naomi Vides. 🏆A big congratulations also go to this year's Roy Hardy trophy winners: Christopher Hopton and Silvia Ruff.

Thank you so much to all our brilliant volunteers, many of whom were from EDOWSC, Beyond the Blue, and Poole & Bournemouth Blue T**s. Without these wonderful people, this event couldn't have happened. A huge thank you to Marc Newman for organising the Seahorse Swim and to Mark Shakles for organising the 43 strong safety team.

We all had such a great time and it was a truly special event! Thank you everyone. See you again next year!

Our first swim this season is on Tuesday 22nd April. Our weekly swims are at Shore Road, and we meet at 6 p.m, for a 6.15 p.m. swim briefing and swim start. Members, your'll need to have renewed your registration before you swim. It's still only £40 for the whole 2025 season (April - October)!

What a fabulous annual end of season EDOWSC meal we had today, and a super turn out of 45 people; swimmers and family supporters! Great food and great company. We've had such a fun swimming season this year!
