FEKC Round 4 Race Report

Saturday's practice was held in wet conditions, and we saw some great improvements from Ethan. Wet weather isn't usually his strongest area, but he drove really well throughout the sessions and continued to build his confidence on track.

As always, you never know what race day will bring, but Ethan did himself proud and delivered an outstanding performance.

Race Report – Round 3 FEKC

Going into Round 3 of the Forest Edge Kart Club, we were facing a tough weekend after discovering midweek that our race engine was unwell. This meant we had no choice but to run the practice engine, which immediately put Ethan on the back foot during practice sessions, struggling to match his usual pace.

Despite the early concerns, race day told a completely different story. Ethan dug deep, showing determination and consistency throughout the heats, steadily working his way up the order.

Results:
Heat 1: P15 🏁 P7
Heat 2: P13 🏁 P7
Heat 3: P4 🏁 P3
Final: P4 🏁 P3 🏆

A fantastic recovery and performance under the circumstances, securing a well-earned podium finish. A great effort and a real testament to Ethan’s resilience and race craft.

Thank you to for all the data set up and driver coaching Coles Racing and Bullet Race Engines for the power. Also, Nick Simester for the wise words when on track.

Whilton Mill – Round 2

A tough weekend, but plenty of lessons learned and the weather was finally on our side. That’s racing — anything can happen, and this weekend definitely proved that.

We kept pushing, stayed focused, and never gave up despite the setbacks. Plenty to take away, regroup, and come back stronger for the next round.

Race Results 👇
🏁 Qualified: P16 / 34 karts
🏁 Heat 1: P16 – DNF
🏁 Heat 2: P16 – P27
🏁 Final: P32 – P22

Not the results we wanted, but the fight through the field in the final showed real determination. On to the next one Forest Edge Round 3 💪🏁

A massive congratulations to my team mates Marley Fisher on P2 and Alfie Filippsen Racing
On P3 👏. Also Ethan Manzi and all known as the famous 5 on their results 🔥👏.

Thank you to everyone at Coles Racing and Bullet Race Engines Read Fabrications Ltd and CPSSTORAGESOLUTIONS for all your support.

💯

You see a kid in a go-kart and think…
“How cute.”
“A fun little hobby.”
“Something to pass the time.”

You see a dad working on the kart in the pits and think…
“Just tinkering.”
“Just racing.”

You see a mom in the stands, filming, cheering, packing snacks and think…
“Just watching.”

But what you don’t see is everything behind it.

You don’t see the late nights in the garage
when everyone else is inside… and they’re still chasing one more adjustment.

You don’t see the money quietly shuffled around
to make sure tires get replaced, parts get ordered, entry fees get paid.

You don’t see the long drives home
where the van is quiet…
because not every race ends the way they hoped.

You don’t see the kid replaying every lap in their head
wondering what they could’ve done better.

Or the parents choosing their words carefully…
because they’re building a driver,
but more importantly, they’re raising a person.

Because go-kart racing?
It’s not just laps around a track.

It’s discipline.
It’s heartbreak.
It’s learning how to lose
without losing yourself.

It’s learning how to win
without forgetting who helped you get there.

It’s dinners eaten out of the back of a van.
It’s sunburn and sweatshirts in the same day.
It’s a life lived between trailers, tools, and checkered flags.

And those kids?
They’re not just driving.

They’re learning how to handle pressure.
How to stay focused when everything in you wants to panic.
How to get back out there… even after a bad run.

So no… it’s not “just a hobby.”

It’s early mornings.
It’s sacrifices.
It’s everything we don’t post about.

It’s a family sport in every sense of the word.

Because behind every kid on that track…
is a whole crew
who gave up a lot
just to watch them chase it.

And if you’ve ever sat in those stands,
heart racing with them every lap…

you already know

this life isn’t simple.
But we’d choose it
every single time. 🏁

Not my words but so true.

Kimbolton – April Round 3 🏁

First almost dry weekend of the season with a strong grid and some big names 💪

Ethan got quicker and quicker all weekend, smashing his personal best and showing great pace 🔥 He drove his heart out with some brilliant overtakes 👏 Not quite at the front yet, but definitely heading in the right direction 📈

Practice: P13/24

Heat 1: P20 → P15
Clean drive from the back, didn’t put a foot wrong 👌

Heat 2: P2 → P6 (best result)
Tricky start with the pole sitter backing off, but Ethan handled it well and pushed hard all race 💥

Heat 3: P11 → P8
Another strong drive, gaining places and building confidence 💪

Final: P9 → P16
Dropped places at the start but fought back to P8 and was closing on a group ahead. Unfortunately lost grip and dropped back—unlucky end, but a big improvement from the last visit 🤦‍♂️➡️📈

Thanks to Steve Bell Bullet Race Engines for engine support and driver coaching, and Connor Hall Coles Racing for the setup 🙌

Next weekend: We maybe at Forest Edge if its wet 🌧️ or Dunkeswell if dry☀️ for practice.

A strong opening race and a brilliant drive to the front.

A tough one after being side-swiped off the track, ending what was shaping up to be another solid run. Ethan handled the setback with maturity.

A mega recovery drive through the field—one of the standout drives of the day.
