‘I have never felt more comfortable stepping foot in a gym’

^^ often it’s literally this part that is the hardest, because when you start out at the gym it is just easier to not go.

My aim as a coach is to make the gym as fun as possible while building my clients confidence and finding a way of training that is best suited to them - and definitely not a one size fits all approach

Explaining the why instead of just the what so that once the knowledge is there, my clients can feel confident enough to come to the gym outside of our sessions

Showing that it’s fine to have ‘off days’ and actually it’s a much better (and more sustainable) route to their goals if they enjoy life outside of the gym along the way

& eventually it gets to a point where they feel familiar with the gym, they’re in a routine with their workouts/food and it genuinely does feel harder to not bother and break the routine than to just pop into the gym and give it a go

Emily is new to the gym and we’re now in our second month of training together, she’s doing amazing and I’m so grateful that she’s chosen me for her journey 🫶🏼

Getting started can often be the hardest part and something that is so easy to put off as there’s never really a ‘right time’, but you also don’t know what you’re missing out on until you give it a go 🙌🏼

It’s so important to me to help my clients to build their confidence and take away as much gym anxiety as I can, so we do this by training in a way that they feel comfortable and building on this week by week..

instead of throwing them in the deep end (or busy part of the gym) and making the whole process feel even more daunting 😅

‘Our PT sessions were the highlight of my week!’ 🥰

^^ is exactly why I loveee my job. I completely get how daunting the weights area can feel and how the gym doesn’t always feel like a fun place to be if you’re not totally sure what you’re doing

Yas would always train independently straight after work and she came to me after losing her confidence in the gym and wanted to build it back up again, as well as wanting to learn more about weights and nutrition

We worked together for almost 18 months and over that we really became good friends. She still is so consistent with her training but also doesn’t let the gym get in the way of enjoying her life outside of it, which is so important!

Yas almost tripled her hip thrust PB while we were training together & it just goes to show what you can achieve once you get your confidence back

I know for lots of people the idea of having to track our food can be at best boring and at worst can lead to an unhealthy mindset, so I wanted to put together some easy tips that don’t involve calorie counting

Of course if you feel comfortable tracking your calories then it’s a great way to ensure you’re in a deficit, but it’s important to remember that tracking calories is just a TOOL we can use, & not the be-all and end-all

If you’re already tracking your calories then all of these tips should still be useful in helping to ensure you’re able to stay within your calories, so it’s a win win

It’s normal to feel anxious going back to the gym after time off.. you’ll feel back to normal in no time but remember a lot of people around you are feeling the same too ✌🏼⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I know it can feel like people are noticing or watching you when you don’t feel very confident but I promise they’re not. Most of us are all either shy, self absorbed or just in the zone (or all 3) 🙏🏼⁣⁣
⁣⁣
That being said, if anyone’s being weird don’t hesitate to tell a staff member.. they’re there to make sure you’re at ease & help you in any way you need 🙌🏼 ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
You deserve to take up just as much room as anyone else!!! Go grab that box and do your hip thrusts 🫶🏼⁣⁣

If you’re brand new, you defo don’t have to jump straight in at the deep end!! Start with what you feel comfortable doing (for me that used to be walking on the treadmill), then gradually add in tiny new bits when you feel more confident (even if that’s just trying 1 machine after the treadmill & then going home). You’ll be surprised how quickly that 1 machine becomes 5.. then 10 🏋🏼‍♀️⁣⁣

If you’re not brand new, remember that you once were! And how scary it was!! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Never feel like you have to completely overhaul your whole life & routine because you’ve joined the gym again… one thing at a time 🎯⁣⁣

AND FINALLY.. January doesn’t last forever. Things will be back to normal in a few weeks 🤍⁣⁣
