As tatiana is moving to America, pontypridd Shotokan will no longer be training. This was our last session before she left.

On friday I went to meet with Sensai Bo Shannon at the WKC. We had a chat about philosophy of training and costs.

I was very impressed with what I saw, the techniques they were doing were familiar but executed with a lot more power and intensity.

But I suppose you should expect this from the Welsh national Coach.

Here is a video I took of the Welsh Karate Collective training. I was impressed with the instruction and feel we could all learn a lot from the reaching there. The video here hasn't captured the speed I saw with some of the other exercises...but I think you get a good idea of the there style of training.

As Tatiana is moving back to America and we will have no permanent instructor I regretfully announce that training at Pontypridd Shotokan will not continue. This Wednesday 27th February will be the last training session.

For those of us who have been training at Pontypridd Shotokan for some years now, we hope to continue training in Shotokan Karate. To this end, we are meeting with Sensei Bo Shannon who runs the Welsh Karate Collective (a collection of dojos in the local area) about our students transferring to his club.

We are all very grateful to Tatiana for setting up Pontypridd Shotokan and for her expert teaching and enduring patience. We will miss her instruction greatly and look forward to opportunities to train with her again when she visits South Wales in the future.

The Association was formed in July 2006 by its Chief Instructor Bo Channon 5th Dan and immediately applied for membership of the Welsh Karate Governing Body to ensure that all members received the optimum opportunities and service which should be available to all Karateka in Wales.

As I am mostly recovered we will be training this Wednesday. Sadly I am at a conference on Thursday so there will be no training that evening.
