Pont-y-pwl & District Runners

A small, local club that caters for anyone who is enthusiastic about running. We welcome all ages, all abilities and we'd love to meet you.

Our club nights are Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm
Our beginners First Steps group meets at 6.30pm on Monday and Wednesday. Our junior section meets at 6.00pm on Mondays. All sessions are from Pontypool Active Living Centre unless otherwise advised. We train over various distances and terrains and encourage everyone to join in team events. The club participates in the Gwent Leisure Centre Leagues and the Gwent Cross Country League.

“Massive good luck to all the Poolers and First Steppers running the Barry Island 10K today! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

If Gavin can run after the omelette from Gwen, and Stacey can survive a full day with Pam, Mic and Bryn, you lot can definitely survive 10K round Barry. 😂

Just remember:
👉Start steady

👉Don’t sprint the first mile like Smithy chasing a cross

👉If you see Dorris dont ask about the salad

Hydrate, stretch, and if all else fails just turn into Nessa and Shout ‘WHAT’S OCCURRIN?!’ at mile 5 for a second wind.

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

At Pont-y-pŵl and District Runners, we know running is about so much more than miles and medals. It’s about friendship, support, fresh air, shared laughs, and knowing you never have to face life’s challenges alone.

Whether you’re chasing a PB, jogging your first 5K, or just turning up for a chat and a run, every step matters — for both physical and mental wellbeing.

This week is a reminder to check in with yourself and others. A simple “How are you?” can go a long way.

Special shoutout to Ben Powell for absolutely smashing the Snowdonia Half Marathon ⛰️💪

🏅 Mike Marsh broke the men’s club marathon record in Copenhagen
🏅 Adam broke the club 10K record
🏅 Lubi broke the women’s W40 age best record in the 10K at Caerphilly
