Tonight, every Viking is Croatian. 🇭🇷⚔️

We’ve checked the history books and discovered:

🏆 Croatia reached a World Cup Final before England did in our lifetime.

🏆 Luka Modrić has won more Ballon d’Ors than England have won major tournaments since 1966.

🏆 Croatia has a population of around 4 million people and still somehow produces more world-class midfielders than England produces penalty takers. 🤣

Meanwhile, England fans have already:

🏠 Brought football home.
🏆 Won the World Cup.
🥇 Won the Golden Boot.
⭐ Won Player of the Tournament.

…all before kick-off. 😂

Don’t worry England fans, if things go wrong tonight there’s always:

☀️ “It’s too hot.”
🌧️ “It’s too wet.”
🎺 “The referee was rubbish.”
📺 “VAR hates us.”
📅 “We’ll win the next one.”

As for Pontyclun Vikings…

🇭🇷 Tonight we’re pretending we can pronounce half the Croatia squad.

This Saturday, you’ll find Pontyclun Vikings JFC at Pontyclun’s Picnic in the Park! 🏕️☀️

📅 Saturday 13th June
📍 Pontyclun Park, Cowbridge Road, CF72 9BQ

Come along and support your local grassroots football club. We’ll have:

👕 Club merchandise for sale
🧸 Teddy Bear Tombola
🎯 Games and activities for the children
💙 Lots of Vikings spirit!

Every penny raised will go straight back into the club to help support our players, teams, equipment and future development.

We’re also still looking for donations of teddy bears for our tombola. If you have any new or good-quality teddies you’d like to donate, please get in touch.

We’d love to see as many Vikings families, friends and supporters there as possible. Come and say hello and help us make it a fantastic day for the club and the local community!

⚽️💙 The End of an Era… and the Start of a New One 💙⚽️

Yesterday marked the final mini football fixtures for our U11s, bringing to an end an incredible chapter in their football journey.

Over the last few years, we have watched these players grow not only as footballers but as young people. We’ve seen friendships formed, confidence built, challenges overcome and countless memories created along the way.

What made yesterday so special wasn’t just the football on display, but the character, determination and togetherness shown by every player. They fought for each other, encouraged one another and represented Pontyclun Vikings with pride right until the final whistle of their mini football journey.

As a club, we couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them. The progress they have made both on and off the pitch has been incredible to witness, and they should all be proud of what they have achieved.

A huge thank you goes to all the parents, families, volunteers, coaches and supporters who have played such an important role throughout the years. Grassroots football simply doesn’t happen without your dedication, commitment and support.

To our players: thank you for the memories, the smiles, the hard work and the passion you’ve shown every week. You’ve helped shape what Pontyclun Vikings is all about.

While this chapter may be ending, an exciting new one is about to begin. We can’t wait to watch these players take the next step into competitive football and continue their development both as players and as people.

The future is bright, and we’re proud to be on this journey together.
