People aren’t just looking for workouts - they’re looking for structure, accountability, and a place to belong.

That’s why group training works.
That’s why it lasts.
And that’s why it gets results.

If you’ve been missing consistency, confidence and community, this is your sign 🙌🏻

There’s a weird idea floating around that once you hit 50, training suddenly needs to become completely different.

It doesn’t.

The fundamentals still work.

People over 50 still need a mix of bilateral work (using both sides together) and unilateral work (one side at a time). They still benefit from the same core movement patterns:

Squat
Hinge
Push
Pull
Carry
Rotate

The goal isn’t to avoid these movements. The goal is to scale them properly, coach them well, and build confidence doing them.

Strength is one of the biggest predictors of independence as we age. Getting up from chairs, climbing stairs, carrying shopping, playing with grandkids — all of that comes back to basic strength and movement.

What changes isn’t the principles. It’s the delivery.

We focus on good technique, sensible progressions, and meeting people where they’re at. No gimmicks. No babying. Just smart training that builds stronger, more capable bodies.

That’s exactly how we coach our over 50s sessions at CF72 Fitness — simple, effective training that helps people move better and stay independent for longer.

People worry they're "too old" to start strength training...
Truth is, the only time it's too late is when you're in the box.

If you can stand, sit, grip, breathe, or swear under your breath at the coaches during a session - you're early enough.

Strength training isnt about chasing personal tests.

Its about staying out of pain, keeping your independence, and avoiding the slow slide into feeling older than you actually are.

Muscle after 50? Absolutely.
More energy? Yep.
Confidence back? Every single week.

Don't wait for the doctor to tell you what your body already has been whispering for years. Start now. Your future self will thank you (and probably loft heavier than you).

“Why the hell would someone over 50 be doing box jumps?”

That’s the question some people ask when they see this.

Here’s why:

👉 Power declines faster than strength as we age.
And power is what helps you catch yourself when you trip, get up off the floor quickly, or react fast enough to stop a fall before it happens.

👉 Jumping builds strong bones.
Impact-based movements like jumping help keep bones dense and joints robust – which is especially important as we get older and more prone to things like osteoporosis.

👉 Confidence grows when you do hard things.
Think box jumps are just for 20-somethings in CrossFit boxes? Nah. They’re for anyone who wants to stay sharp, strong, and capable.

This isn’t about showing off.
It’s about showing UP — for your body, your health, and your future.

Of course, we scale everything to suit the individual — this member has built up to this over time with smart, progressive training.
And we’ve got plenty of ways to get the same benefits without ever leaving the ground.

But make no mistake:
Training power is one of the smartest things you can do after 50.
Because the goal isn’t just to live longer…
It’s to live better.

Why It’s So Hard to Make Time for Yourself (and How to Finally Fix It) ⏰💡

Ever notice how making time for yourself is the first thing to go when life gets busy? 🙋‍♂️

Between work, taking care of grandkids, and all the other demands of daily life, it feels like there’s no time left in the day for you.

But here’s the thing: It’s not just about finding the time, it’s about feeling like you deserve that time. For a lot of us, especially as we get older, we’ve been conditioned to think that taking time for ourselves is selfish. 🧠

We feel guilty, like there’s always someone else who needs our attention more—whether it’s work deadlines, family responsibilities, or just keeping up with life.

And guess what?

That guilt is exactly what big businesses have counted on for years. They’ve sold us convenience and speed—fast food, quick fixes, “shortcuts”—but in the end, it’s all cost us more time and energy. 🍔⏳ We’re left running on empty, putting everyone else first, and wondering why we never get around to our own needs.

But here’s the truth:

You can’t pour from an empty cup. 🥤 If you don’t make time for your health, your energy, and your own well-being, you’re going to burn out.
It’s not selfish to take time for yourself—it’s necessary. 💯

Here’s how to start making it happen:

Carve Out Just 30 Minutes:
That’s it. Start small. Whether it’s for a walk, a workout, or just sitting quietly with a cup of tea—30 minutes can make a huge difference in your day.

Schedule It:
Don’t wait for “free time”—put your self-care on the calendar like it’s a meeting. Protect that time like you would any other important appointment. 📅

Remember Why It Matters:
Taking care of yourself doesn’t just benefit you. It helps you show up better for your family, your job, and the people who rely on you. 💪

When you prioritise yourself, everything else gets better. You deserve to feel your best—and it all starts with making that time. 💥

💪 Why We Love the Kettlebell Hold March 💪

In our over-50 small group training sessions, we’re all about building functional strength, and one of my favorite moves to help with this is the Kettlebell Hold March. 🏋️‍♀️

Here’s how it works:

we hold two kettlebells by our sides (one in each hand) and march in place, focusing on keeping a strong, stable core. Sounds simple, right?

But it does so much more than you’d think! 👇

✅ Strengthens Core & Stability: As we march, our core is engaged the entire time, helping us improve posture, balance, and stability.

✅ Boosts Balance & Coordination: Lifting one leg at a time challenges our balance, which is key as we age to prevent falls and keep moving with confidence.

✅ Functional Strength: This exercise mimics real-life movements, like carrying groceries or walking up stairs, so it’s super practical for everyday strength.

✅ Low Impact, High Benefit: It’s gentle on the joints but still gives us a powerful full-body workout—perfect for staying active without risk of injury!

This movement is all about staying strong, steady, and ready for whatever life throws our way. 🏃‍♂️

Who’s ready to march towards better health with us?
