Here we are… our Barcelona Cup Winners…

Ponteland Wildcats, not just doing Ponteland, Northumberland and the North East proud… but doing the UK proud with their success and performances at the girls Barcelona cup - coming away as cup winners.

Team Manager Steve Brown gives thanks everyone that provided sponsorship and support to the girls, they done you proud.

They now have to go again next year to defend their cup!

🚨 WILDCATS UPDATE 🚨

We can confirm that a number of our Wildcats girls made the away trip to Barcelona this weekend.

The squad have been unusually quiet, although a video has surfaced from inside the camp…

There are also unverified reports of silverware being lifted.

At this stage, the club can neither confirm nor deny rumours of a cup win, questionable celebrations, or attempts to smuggle a trophy through airport security.

Our investigations are ongoing.

More to follow as and when the players stop celebrating long enough to tell us what actually happened

🖤 TEAM CELEBRATION POST - JAGUARS 🖤

What a day for the Ponteland Jaguars at the Alnwick Tournament! 🌟⚽

Thrown into a tough 5 team group and facing a demanding schedule of 8 games, our girls were absolutely outstanding from start to finish.

✅ Played 8
✅ 6 unbeaten games against the rest of the field
✅ Only 2 defeats
✅ Both losses came against WBSC Pumas – the runaway group winners
✅ Only goals conceded all day were against the eventual group champions!

That means against every other team we faced, the Jaguars stood firm, battled hard and refused to be beaten.

The effort, determination, teamwork and attitude shown by these girls today was incredible. They represented Ponteland with pride, passion and a never give up spirit that makes everyone associated with the club proud.

A huge thank you to the organisers at Alnwick Town AFC for running such a fantastic tournament. Everything was brilliantly organised and provided a great day of football for all involved. 👏⚽

And finally, a massive congratulations to our Jaguars girls. Heads held high, girls you were absolutely brilliant! 🐆

A different kind of training session for our Thunder U13 Girls tonight as they swapped football boots for boxing gloves and headed down to Laing's Gym 🥊⚽

The girls had a fantastic time, learning new skills, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, and enjoying a brilliant team building experience together.

There were plenty of links between football and boxing too – footwork, balance, agility, reactions, discipline and mental toughness all play a huge part in both sports.

Most importantly, there were lots of smiles, great effort, and plenty of friendly sparring…

A huge thank you to Kevin at Laings Boxing Gym for making the girls feel so welcome and delivering a great session.

A huge congratulations to Ruby and Ann Marie on their invitations to attend a National Talent Camp at St George’s Park.

Ruby began her journey with Ponteland United in our Dragons and Phoenix teams, while Ann Marie also progressed through our Phoenix team. To see both players earn this opportunity is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work, dedication and talent.

We understand that invitations to these camps are reserved for players regarded among the top 50 in the country for their age group, making this recognition even more special.

The camp also forms part of the pathway that can lead to future England U15 and international opportunities.

While any outcomes from the camp may take time to emerge, the invitation itself is something to be incredibly proud of.

Everyone at Ponteland United is delighted to see Ruby and Ann Marie receive this recognition, and we wish them every success as they represent themselves, their families and the club at St George’s Park.

Alnwick Town AFC Eric Hately Memorial 2026

Another win for Ponteland Predators!

The boys topped their group with 4 wins from 4 games and then progressed into the final coming out on top in a goal fest against Berwick.

The football that the boys played was exceptional and team spirit throughout was great to see.

Well done to Berwick who were excellent in the final and pushed the boys all the way to the final whistle.

Fantastic to see our u12 Thunder today celebrating the end of a very successful season.

Here’s what coach Woody shares about their season.

“It's been a great season for Thunder. We've welcomed new players and we've won our first trophy together.

There have been some brilliant individual moments along the way. Anabelle showed incredible determination after breaking her arm, working hard to return and get back on the pitch before the season ended. In the cup final, when we needed cover in goal, Bo and Emma both stepped forward and volunteered. And when it came to penalties, we had five courageous volunteers, and every single one scored.

What makes us most proud is that this trophy wasn't won by one player or even a handful of players. It was won by a team. We couldn't have reached the final, never mind won it, without every member of the squad playing their part throughout the season. Be that starting games, coming off the bench, training hard every week, supporting teammates, or stepping up when needed, everyone contributed.

The cup win is a perfect example of what football is all about. Success comes from working together, trusting each other, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

You should all be incredibly proud of what you've achieved this season. Congratulations girls, and thank you for making it such a fantastic year.”
