🏏 MATCH REPORT | South Kirkby CC 1st XI vs Hemsworth Miners Welfare CC 1st XI 🏏
Hemsworth travelled to South Kirkby looking to continue their recent form but were ultimately beaten by 8 wickets, despite posting a competitive 141/8 from their 46 overs.
After being asked to bat first, Hemsworth battled hard against a disciplined South Kirkby attack. A patient innings from Lee Sykes (33) anchored the middle order, while Jack Heritage (29) and Mitchell Crapper (22) added valuable runs to help the visitors reach 141.

Although wickets fell at regular intervals, Hemsworth showed resilience to bat out their allocation and set South Kirkby a target of 142.
Defending the total, Hemsworth made an encouraging start. James Gorton struck twice to remove both South Kirkby openers, finishing with an excellent 2/36 from his 10 overs, while the rest of the attack worked hard to maintain pressure.

However, South Kirkby’s response was built around a superb unbeaten 86 from Dale Woolsey, who guided his side through the chase. Supported by Dylan Moran (15*), the hosts reached 143/2 in 25.1 overs to secure victory.
While the result didn’t go Hemsworth’s way, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, particularly the efforts of the bowling unit and James Gorton’s controlled spell that kept the game competitive.
A special mention must also go to Christian Elvidge and Neill Robert, whose efforts in the field epitomised the commitment shown by the side throughout the afternoon. Both players put in a tremendous shift, chasing every ball, backing up their teammates and helping maintain standards in difficult conditions. Their energy and work rate certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
