I am considering a return to Personal Training. I will have access to a good quality studio gym in Pontefract, that is well equipped for one to one or small group (3 max) training. I will write programmes and nutritional advice. I will personalise workout routines and schedule around your availability. You will also have access to my YouTube channel with various classes. Please DM me if you are interested. Training will start in the New Year 💪🏼

Don't think of losing weight. Think of reducing stored fat.
Don't diet, they fail, all of them, eventually. Change your eating habits instead.
Fast - 12 hours everyday to balance insulin. Fast 16 hours for two or three days a week; they don't have to be together. This will optimise your ability to draw body fat from storage. Have your last nutrition at (say) 8pm then don't eat again until noon the next day.
Eat clean, prepare your own food from scratch. Prioritise Protein, fill with healthy fats, control carbohydrates. Avoid foods with sugar added or prepared with seed oils - that's most fast food and processed foods - including vegetarian foods. Eat vegetables and fruit (particularly berries). Minimise potato, pasta, rice and in particular, shop bought bread - it's laced with a poison called sugar.
Exercise, it doesn't have to be intense. Walking is as good as running. Note: Cardiovascular exercise makes you hungry. It's performed at an intensity where the energy source is predominantly glucose (sugar). Deplete your sugar stores and you get hungry. Weight training uses just as much energy, but at an intensity that allows the body to use fatty acids for energy; glucose reserves stay optimal and you don't get hungry.
You gained fat because of the nutrition you have. Don't think you can change for a few months and then go back - you'll regain the weight, guaranteed. Don't diet, change your eating habits.

Nutrition and diets. It is and I suspect always has been a complex and complicated picture.

Currently there is a battle going on between the low fat caloric restriction crowd (the calories in calories out brigade) and the low carb, Ketogenic, high fat crowd.

Before the 1960s the low carb crowd were in the ascendency with dieters advised to cut bread, potatoes and wheat products to loose weight.

As the 60s progressed into the 70s and 80s the low fat crowd took over, mainly due to the links between cholesterol and heart disease (challenged by the low carb crowd).

Then there's the intermittent fasting brigade. Some on the side of low carb, some on the side of low fat/calorie control.

I don't think either crowd has it right, but, because they have polarised there seems to be very little objective thinking going on.

For us, the poor smucks trying to make sense of it all, just confusion. And whilst we remain confused, we just get fatter, have a greater chance of cancer, diabetes and dementia and beat ourselves up about being fat, ugly and unable to control our weight. Great for our mental health too, eh?

So thanks medical and science research communities for letting us down so badly.

Final thing - whichever crowd you follow, I've found intermittent fasting works, for fat loss and for mental alertness.

If you hear someone say - weight loss is all about calories in, calories out - beware. It shows a fundamental lack of understanding of both the first law of thermodynamics and human biology.

Throughout the Lockdown, whilst the gyms were closed, I put on regular ZOOM fitness classes; they proved popular 😁 When the gyms reopened I continued to run them as many people were unsure about returning to the gym, what with new operating procedures and the 'risk' of COVID-19 infection. They are still proving popular, so I am opening them up to more people.

There are at least 2 classes Mon, Wed, Thur and Fri morning starting at 7am and at least 2 classes Mon and Tue evening starting at 6pm.

You may not be familiar with all the names, but [with the exception of SWING] are all professionally pre-choreographed and with music classes.

You may be familiar with Insanity and Transform Step, from the amazing and inspirational Shaun T, but may not know SH1FT and L1FT by the exceptional Will Brereton, who previously worked with both Les Mills and Beachbody before setting off on his quest with SH1FT. You won't know SWING a flow kettlebell class from the 'oldest sw***er in town' your's truly, but if you try it, be prepared - it's tough. Finally, there's Core De Force, if you want to feel all 'bad ass' punching and kicking the frustration of the day [and loads of calories] away, this is for you; it's choreographed, but not timed to the music, so it's less dancy than some other martial arts based classes - no coordination necessary.

Free trial? no problem, you can try it for a week, no charge, no obligation. After that you can pay £15 a month for full access, £4.50 for each class PAYG or buy a 10 class 'pass' for £35, use as and when you choose.

Oh! did I mention, I post YouTube links so you can also workout at other times, to suit yourself .

If you are intersted, comment on this post or PM me.

Please share the post, you may have friends that need me, even if you don't 😄

Have a great day, week, life 😆😘
