March competition round up time!
Sunday 8th saw most of the club’s competitive fencers take part in the Yorkshire Sabre Championship, where there was a lot of good fencing on display from everyone. It was a shame that Tom came up against Thomas, and Yuri against Adam, but they were hard-fought bouts. Alex Gray finished in second place 🥈; Alison Gray & Emma Waller shared the 3rd place 🥉 on the podium

The weekend of 27th / 28th was the York Open. On the Saturday, Alison battled through the aftermath of several colds to finish 19th. Emma had to scratch due to a skiing injury.
On the Sunday, Adam, Laurence & Tom took part, with Alex running the armoury as efficiently as ever! 😁 The results of 26th, 28th & 34th don’t reflect the hard work they all put in, against some experienced and nippy opponents!

Southern (U12/U16 Foil & U14/U18 Epee/Sabre): 2nd February
Yorkshire & North East (Sabre/Epee): 6th February
South West (Epee): 9th February
South West (Sabre): 9th February
London (1): 15th February
London (2): 16th February
West Midlands (Foil): 26th February

You can only qualify for the BYCs by entering your regional qualifier.

And before the Yorkshire Sabre last weekend, your coaches have been in action recently. Emma fenced both sabre and foil (!) for Wales at the Veteran’s Home Nations in Edinburgh on Saturday 13th. She bravely stepped in to do foil for the first time in 26 years to replace an injured teammate!
Both Adam and Emma also competed in the Veteran’s Age Group competition on Saturday 20th, both bringing home bronze medals 🥉🥉
