Sad news of the passing of a man that supported our club and many other IGR clubs at the start of their journey as clubs.
Mozza donated £500 to our club when we had nothing, all he asked was for a club shirt in return. We were immensely grateful to honour this request.
Thank you Mozza, you were an absolute gent. RIP. X
The Birmingham Bulls are deeply saddened to learn that long-time club supporter and IGR legend Maurice Martin (aka Mozza) has passed away.
Many of our friends and wider community will have known Mozza through his committed attendance at inclusive tournaments, or through his weekly posts of encouragement in the IGR social media groups. What some may not know about is the extent of his generosity and steadfast commitment to widening inclusion within the sport.
A veteran, Mozza was one of countless people unjustly dismissed from the armed forces due to his sexuality. He would later join the legal case challenging this practice and fighting for justice for those affected. Upon securing a payout as part of this legal case, Mozza had only one thought as to how he would use the money - to support his beloved IGR community.
The Bulls were one of a large number of clubs that benefited from Mozza’s generous spirit. He was a stalwart and a permanent fixture at Touch My Brum, and this year he covered the registration costs for 2 new clubs to participate in the event.
Mozza, the Birmingham Bulls salute you. Sleep well, old friend. You’ve earned your rest.
