Elfordleigh Pro Shop Elfordleigh is truly a year round course offering a Mature Parkland layout with Superb views and playability. PGA Head Professional Simon Invest.

Our established 18 hole parkland layout has now matured into a genuine test to all level of golfer, with the plantations now in play resulting in the course offering the challenge the designer wished for. The new 1st green has improved the opening hole, offering interesting pin positions whilst improving the drainage on the approach and surroundings. From here you take on the newer holes (2nd - 10

th) ranging from inviting par 3s to the challenge of the double dog leg Par 5 4th. Be sure to take a moment on the 7th fairway and take in the spectacular view back to the Hotel with the beauty of Dartmoor beyond. On re-entering the original holes the first challenge is the redesigned par 3 11th, this hole is not for the faint hearted measuring 191 yards from the back tees, with out of bounds stretching down the right of the hole and two bunkers to catch errand shots. A par 4 here is more than acceptable. Holes number 13 and 14 are par 5s and can offer birdies but beware in being to greedy as the tree lined fairways place an onus on accuracy from the tee and for the second shot. The closing holes offer a stern test and also demand accuracy from the tee with dog legs and elevation ensuring that you have to be playing well to make a good score. Our Greenkeeping staff work tirelessly in all weather to maintain the course and are continually looking at areas where we can improve. The latest projects include the redesign and lengthening of the 17th green, 18th tee and a makeover of the tricky par 3 15th. Winter conditions continue to improve with better tees and greens being introduced to encourage more year round golf at Elfordleigh. We hope you enjoy the course as much as we do and as many first time visitors agree "I would like to play it again".

Say hello to our Golf Captain, Dan Batten. 👋⛳

Every captain brings something different to the role, and Dan is bringing energy, fresh ideas, and a genuine passion for growing Elfordleigh Golf Club and the people in it. He’ll be the first to admit he didn’t expect the captaincy to come around quite so soon, but he stepped up, and we’re really glad he did.

This year, Dan’s hoping to grow the club across all sections; juniors, seniors, ladies and men, and create more moments where members actually mix, socialise, and enjoy the game beyond their usual groups.

More connection, on and off the course. We like the sound of that.

He’s also chosen a charity that means a great deal to him personally: The Chestnut Appeal which raises awareness and funds around men’s cancer. After watching a close friend face testicular cancer twice, and come through it both times, Dan wants to use his year in the role to raise awareness and remind us all that checking in on our health matters. We’re invincible until we’re not.

Oh, and if you’ve not played our course yet?

Dan sums it up perfectly: “It looks manageable. It isn’t.” 😄
