Plymouth Parkway FC can trace its history back to its originally formation in 1988. Having broken away from Plymouth Kolts it started playing regularly in the old Division 4 of the Plymouth & District League. In that same year the club secured sponsorship from Exeter Airport so a new club name was required. Life began as Ex-Air Flyers with Sponsorship from Exeter Airport - the first club in Plymouth to be sponsored from outside the city limits. During the season the club played on allocated council pitches but the following season 1989 - 1990, the club moved to the Parkway Sports Club pitch in Ernesettle continuing under the name of Ex-Air Flyers. The club colours of yellow and royal blue were the colours of the airport logo and remain the same today. The club was promoted in successive seasons, having won both league and cups on the way until it reached Division 1. During this time the club was waiting to join the Premier Division when the Devon League was newly formed in 1992. The facilities at Parkway Sports Club enabled the club to make the transition & it was agreed that application to join the inaugural league would be made. The club name was changed for the first season to EAF Plymouth FC - the club finished bottom of the league. At the start of the 1993 - 94 season the Parkway Sports Club offered a number of extra facilities in order to help the club in its current state but the name of the team was changed to Plymouth Parkway FC in recognition. The 93 - 94 season was the clubs best finish in the league coming third. The ground was further improved with floodlights and new, larger more modern dressing room built. A spectator’s conservatory was added to the clubhouse overlooking the pitch. A further 4 years was spent in the league with the newly named Plymouth Parkway finishing 4th,13th & 10th in consecutive seasons. In 1998 an application was made to join the South Western League as it was a step up in terms of quality within local football and would offer followers of non league football in Plymouth an alternative to the Devon League. The club was duly accepted into the league for the forthcoming season 1998 - 99. After a nomadic 2000 - 01 season when all home games were played away due to the loss of the Parkway Sports Club facilities the club used Brickfields as its base before identifying a new home. Plymouth Parkway moved to its new ground at Bolitho Park in August 2003. The club have continued to develop Bolitho Park with floodlights, stands, rails and fencing and are continuing to develop the Bolitho Park facilities. These upgraded facilities enable the club to compete in the FA Cup & FA Vase. The Club formed a partnership with Plymouth YMCA between 2004 & 2011 and their junior football clubs that play in the Devon Junior & Minor League. Plymouth Parkway FC currently has 2 junior sides competing in the DJM with a view to establishing a junior academy in the future. In 2008-09 the reserves entered the East Cornwall League system and currently play in the Premier League of the ECL, whilst the first team are in the Premier league of the CSWPL. The CSWPL was formed from both Cornwall & Devon teams from the former SWL & Devon league to create a new step 6 of the league pyramid system within the FA’s non league football structure. In the 2012 - 13 season Plymouth Parkway FC enjoyed their most successful season finishing runners up in the South West Premier League and Champions of the East Cornwall League. Plymouth Parkway FC’s immediate goal is to play in the Toolstation Western League and ultimately compete at the highest level possible. We continue to increase our fan base and will start to develop our youth system to compete at junior level with a view to acquiring FA community status. In recent years we have entered the FA Cup & the FA Vase and year on year progress further into the competition. This season we progressed into the qualifying rounds, one of only 2 clubs in Devon clubs to do so. The 2013/2014 season was our 25th year in local Football and we hope in the next 25 years we can continue to develop further as a football club. We are well aware of the difficulties of running a local football club and the amount of work (usually voluntarily) that we have to rely on for everything to run smoothly. However we look forward to the challenges ahead and would like to thank all the volunteers, committee members, players and supporters over the past 25 years for making this such a great club, roll on the next 25……
