Support Worker – Supported Living

Location: Plymouth

X is a sociable, friendly young man who thrives with structure, consistency, and patient support. He enjoys being busy, helping with tasks, and feeling included in everything happening around him. He communicates verbally and clearly, though he can become repetitive or focused on one topic — staff help by gently redirecting him to other interests.

He loves:

Talking about his car, its paperwork, and keeping it clean
Visiting National Trust sites like Saltram
Going bowling at Barbican Leisure Park
Socialising with friends and family
Being involved in cooking, shopping, and daily tasks
Feeling praised and recognised for his achievements

He is at his happiest when he feels supported, understood, and encouraged.

What Your Role Involves

Communication & Emotional Support
Allow time to process information
Break information down into simple phrases
Reduce verbal communication if he becomes anxious, distressed, or over‑excited
Redirect repetitive speech gently
Use positive reinforcement — praise motivates him greatly
Support him to make informed choices

X is a friendly, knowledgeable young man who thrives with structure, clear communication, and patient support. He loves films, music, TV shows, technology, and especially going to the cinema. He enjoys planning his activities, booking tickets online, and keeping memories like seat maps and ticket stubs.
He communicates verbally and understands well when given time to process information, especially during changes to routine or unexpected events.

X benefits from consistent staff who enjoy conversation, respect his independence, and support him to maintain his routines, friendships, and favourite activities.

What Your Role Involves
Daily routines
Morning wake‑ups at 07:30, medication, breakfast, and helping him prepare for the day.
Evening routines starting around 19:45, including prompting for PJs, medication, and supporting his 8pm shows.

Communication support
Giving him time to process information, explaining changes clearly, and helping him understand plans using his whiteboard and activity picture board.

Activities & community access
Cinema trips, shopping, technology‑related activities, and exploring new things while maintaining his autonomy and friendships.
He does not return home until all planned activities are completed, so staff must check timings and plan ahead.

Who We’re Looking For

This role is ideal for someone who is:
