Last few words to summarise this season and this team.

What a season it has been💙 Prem title winners and Ken Rickard winners, completing the league and cup double for the 2025/2026 season🏆

All this has been possible because of the commitment and desire of the players and staff throughout the season, as well as the support from the fans!

This is only our 2nd season as a Sunday team and in that time we’ve won the Senior Devon Cup, Prem title, Ken Rickard Cup, leaving us not much to achieve to win all there is to win👏🏼

Some stats to finish off! In 14 league games, we scored 64 goals, with only queens ahead scoring 8 more. In 14 league games, we only conceded 22 goals, 5 less than the team with 2nd best defensive record. 11 wins, 1 draw and 2 defeats, winning the league by 6 points. Danny Jones and Luke Lawson tied on 12 goals each for the season 🤝

What remains for the Rovers now is our end of season do and end of season awards! 🍻 Future posts will inform you all who has picked up awards and what for🥇

Lastly, we just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us this season. Be that through coming to watch games, keeping an eye out for posts on this page or just by talking with people you know about the rovers!

See you next season UTBR💙

Today’s game marked the end of an illustrious Hooe Rovers career for the goat Mat Wood aka Woody, Big Wood, Akinfenwood💙

Woody has played an incredible 16 years for Hooe Rovers mens😱 racking up 100s of appearances!! And he could still name the blokes who he played with in his first season🤣 many have come and gone over the years but Woody has always been a constant, experiencing some of the worst times and some of the best times with the Rovers. And what a way for him to bow out now, as a league and cup double winner🫡

A monster of a centre back who has provided rovers with some great memories. My personal favourite, his last minute equaliser against Queens away last season which resulted in some crazy celebrations😮‍💨 Akinfenwood showing his clinical nature!

It won’t be the same without you at the Rovers mate but we all wish you the very best and on behalf of everyone at the club, thank you💙 a true Hooe Rovers legend!

PLYMOUTH & WEST DEVON SUNDAY PREMIER CHAMPIONS 2025/2026 🏆

The rovers have completed the dirty double 💯 😮‍💨 league title and Ken Rickard trophy wrapped up👏🏼

The rovers win the premier title by 6 points which was ensured with a 2-1 victory over Tamerton today ⚽️

We went 1-0 down in the first half despite creating many chances and playing some nice football. Tamerton had a man sent off in the first half which gave rovers the upper hand moving forward but Tamerton stayed strong defensively to keep us out for the remainder of the half. Plenty of confidence for the rovers going into 2nd half though, more of the same and we knew we’d eventually find the back of the net.

Rovers could not grab the equaliser and it was looking like it was just going to be one of those days. However, skipper Nelz Bonar got the equaliser when he latched onto a perfectly weighted through ball from maestro Ben Rhodes, with Nelz drilling it first time past the keeper, 1-1 with about 10 mins left 🤞🏻Rovers were then awarded a penalty after a silky run by Herbie Bell resulted in him being brought down in the box 😬 Kieran Dyer stepped up and smashed it in, keeping his 100% pen record intact for this season💪🏼 2-1 rovers. Tamerton got 2 more red cards after this. Full time whistle blows and Rovers end our unbelievable campaign with another win💙

We were then presented with the league trophy and could begin our celebrations 🏆

A great performance from all the lads today. Non stop pressing from the front men and kept getting in brilliant positions in front of goal. Midfield were great on the ball and kept putting the ball into dangerous positions and the defence and mob were solid as they have been all season, really limiting Tamerton’s chances👌🏼

MOTM: Ben Roy , unbelievable shift today mate, won absolutely everything and you didn’t stop all game, up and down and completely solid for the whole 90👍🏼

Donkey: Aaron Hicks , lots of misses from lots of lads during todays game but Hicksy picks up donkey for his miss which was supposedly deemed the worst of the lot🤷‍♂️ despite that, excellent work at the back yet again today mate!

An absolute scorcher up Jenny yesterday morning ☀️ Rovers ran out 13-2 winners against BSB Harchester.

Hats off to everyone involved at Harchester. They have stuck it out this season, always had lads turn up and fulfil their fixtures. We hope you get to enjoy a more competitive season next time around 👍🏼

I am not going to attempt to run through every goal because I simply can’t remember them all🤣 goal scorers were as follows: Luke Lawson (x3), Matt Harris (x2), Ben Rhodes (x2), Herbie Bell (x2), Ash O’Neil, Tom Hunt, Brogan Holmes, George Hann ⚽️

We went into the game yesterday knowing that there were many different possibilities for our fate in the league depending on the result of the Queen and Constitution v Tamerton game going on at the same time as our game. We knew that if Queens beat Tamerton, we would’ve needed a draw or win against Tamerton next Sunday to win the league. If queens and Tamerton drew yesterday, we would’ve mathematically won the league yesterday. If Tamerton beat queens yesterday, we would need to not lose to Tamerton next Sunday by a certain amount of goals dictated by goal difference😬

The latter happened yesterday in that Tamerton beat queens. Therefore, a big scoreline from the Rovers yesterday was really important and has now put our goal difference 25 ahead of Tamerton’s. The league is not mathematically won just yet but on Sunday we are ready to put in one more performance to ensure we are crowned P&WD Sunday Prem Champions 🏆 The league and cup double is on!!!

MOTM: Brogan Holmes , a fantastic attacking performance from Holmesy yesterday. Slick dribbling, great passing, direct and capped it off with a beauty of a goal. Brog has cut inside on his right foot from outside the box and smashed one in top bins👏🏼

Donkey: Matt O’brien , this man is not shy in letting people know when he’s had a good game. However, I think the recent plaudits in cup finals has got to his head as yesterday he was simply not switched on. Poor old MOB was basking in the heat yesterday with a long sleeve keeper kit on, not getting any action as rovers ran wild. MOB was however called into action some time in the 2nd half when he received a back pass. MOB took a touch and proceeded to weigh up his options for what seemed like eternity. The oncoming Harchester attacker didn’t faze MOB at all and the attacker just tackled the ball off MOB, ran to the goal line with the ball and headed it in from the floor in front of our “sun stroked” keeper 🤣

We would love for as many people to come down to Jenny on Sunday for a 10.30 kick off, where we hope to lift the trophy and celebrate an incredible season 🥳
