We are delighted to confirm that Connor Russell has been appointed First Team Manager ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Connor arrives following a strong debut campaign with Morley Rangers. Connor brings with him a deep understanding of local football, shaped by years of involvement both on the pitch and in the dugout. His work ethic and commitment make him the right fit to lead us forward.

Connor said: “I’m buzzing to get started. The facilities here are fantastic, and I’m already looking forward to pre-season. I want to build a successful, hard‑working side and continue the progress made by the previous management team.”

Mount Gould Football Club can confirm that following Wednesday’s game, the current management team will be stepping down from their roles at the club.

Over the last two seasons, the management team have played a huge part in bringing the good times back to Mount Gould, helping restore pride, togetherness and success both on and off the pitch.

Their achievements include securing the Division Two title last season and leading the club to a strong and highly competitive campaign this year in Division One.

Everyone at the club would like to place on record our sincere thanks and appreciation to Wes, Dave, Jamie, Cameron and Ray for all of their hard work, commitment and effort during their time in charge.

The dedication they have shown to Mount Gould Football Club over the past two seasons has been outstanding, and they leave with the gratitude and respect of everyone connected with the club.

We also would like to thank Katie Hengle and Ali Westlake for their contribution over the last 2 years!

We wish them all the very best for the future.🩵

No rest for the wicked as Mount Gould welcome Elburton Villa 2nds to The Enclosure tomorrow night.

With fixtures coming thick and fast, Mount Gould will be looking to keep momentum going on home soil, while Elburton Villa 2nds arrive hoping to make life difficult for The Sky Blues.

It promises to be another competitive evening at The Enclosure.

Newton Abbot Spurs 3rds suffered a tough evening under the lights as Mount Gould ran out convincing 6-1 winners with an attacking display full of quality and confidence.

The Sky Blues wasted little time in stamping their authority on the contest and opened the scoring after just four minutes. Sean Thompson picked the ball up 20 yards from goal before unleashing a superb strike into the bottom corner — a finish that even his old man, Jocko, would have been proud of.

Spurs responded well though and drew level on nine minutes with an excellent free-kick that left Mount Gould stunned momentarily and forced them back into action.

The visitors quickly regained control and restored their lead through Bentley Alcantara, who beat the last defender before rifling emphatically past the goalkeeper to make it 2-1.

Mount Gould then produced arguably the goal of the night as Tyler Wark cut inside from the left onto his right foot and from outside the box smashed an unstoppable effort into the top corner to give the visitors a commanding 3-1 advantage.

Just before the interval, Spurs had a golden opportunity to claw their way back into the game when their centre forward raced through one-on-one with stand-in goalkeeper Jack Horswell. Horswell stood tall brilliantly though, producing a vital block to preserve Mount Gould’s two-goal cushion heading into half-time.

The second half saw Newton Abbot enjoy some promising spells and at times Mount Gould found themselves pinned back inside their own half. However, the game swung decisively just after the hour mark when substitutes Falco and Jordan Inwood combined superbly with a neat one-two before Inwood coolly rolled the ball beyond the keeper for 4-1.

Thompson then grabbed his second of the evening with another classy finish, firing across the goalkeeper from a tight angle while proud onlooker Jocko applauded from the sidelines.

The scoring was completed in style by Ray Spear, whose fantastic free-kick bent beautifully around the wall and beyond the despairing dive of the goalkeeper.

It was a fantastic night for Mount Gould, who now quickly turn their attention to Thursday’s clash against Elburton Villa at The Enclosure.
