Summer Solstice at Tinside Lido 🌅

The sun has now risen on the longest day of the year, and what a fantastic start to the morning it’s been.

Swimmers have come together to enjoy the earliest sunrise of the year, with plenty of smiles, positive energy and incredible views across Plymouth Sound.

As well as offering memberships, Plymouth Life Centre, Plympton Swimming Pool, Tinside Lido and Mount Wise Swimming Pools are all open to the public on a pay-as-you-go basis.

With warmer weather on the horizon, we've been working to make the Plymouth Active App more accessible for those who may not have used it before.

Whether you're planning a cold-water swim next week, want to attend a class at the Life Centre, or are keen to try out the gym at Plympton, you can easily book through our class schedule. Simply follow the instructions below to get started and get moving.

How to get started:

- Open the Plymouth Active App
- Select your chosen centre
- Select your activity (Class, Swim, or Activity).
- Choose your desired session and tap ‘Book’.
- Tap ‘Register as Pay As You Go’ and follow the prompts to the basket and create your casual Pay As You Go member account.

Drowning Prevention Week | 13–20 June 💧

At Plymouth Active, we're proud to support Drowning Prevention Week by helping children build the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe in and around water.

Throughout the week, all swimmers in Stages 1–10 of our Learn to Swim programme will be introduced to the Water Safety Code, learning four simple but vital messages:

🛑 Stop and Think
👫 Stay Together
📞 Call 999 in an emergency
🌊 Float to live

These important life-saving skills can help children make safer choices around water, whether they're at the beach, by a river, or enjoying time at the pool.

Let's work together to ensure every child can enjoy water safely, not just during Drowning Prevention Week, but all year round.
