Named after the Cattewater, and based at the Mount Batten Watersports Centre, we offer competitive and social rowing in the stunning surroundings of Plymouth Sound. One of the fastest growing team sports in the UK - Cornish Pilot Gig Racing combines traditional handmade wooden rowing boats with a crew of 7, variable sea conditions and race courses combining tight turns to create an additive sport
that is accessible to all ages and abilities. Plymouth’s Cattewater Pilot Gig Club are based at the Mount Batten Watersports Centre in Plymstock and currently run 3 mens crews, 3 ladies crews, social rowing, learn-to-row sessions, as well as a junior crew. All our boats are a distinctive jade green colour and can often be seen rowing in Plymouth Sound all year round. During the summer months we compete at rowing Regattas through Devon, Cornwall and Dorset; and once a year we compete at the Gig Rowing World Championships on the Isles of Scilly.
