Truman Baker vs James Saunders
0-2 vs 0-2
This is a super high stakes fight for these two competitors. This is the fight that'll shape the direction of both amateur careers.
The 0-2 attached to Saunders name isn't really a real reflection of his abilities. Both his losses come from his own fights falling through and then jumping into another short notice to save the day. His first loss comes against current Featherweight Champ Ole Hetleflat and second loss against Middleweight Champ Contender Dawid Jarowienko. So in all honesty we don't know what Saunders can do yet as he's had the odds massively stacked against him in his first two outings.
This experience has put him into a great head space for this fight. He stepped into war with slim chance of getting out the other side and still made the walk. So now with an even playing field he is supremely confident going into this.
From what we've seen from Baker he has slick jiu-jitsu and solid stand up. He's tough too. His last loss came against our own Featherweight Title Challenger Ross Wing so between all these fighters there is a close skillset between all of them.
Saunders has a susceptibility against submissions, Baker's strength. He also doesn't work well off of his back when ground & pound tactics are applied. Vice versa Baker has been finish by strikes twice in the second round.
Tactics from either side seem clear cut.
Saunders needs to keep the fight on the feet and strike and with Co stant pressure Baker folds by the second.
Baker needs to get the fight to the ground and maintain top position. A quick flurry of G&P will finish this fight quickly, most probably in the first round.
So in conclusion.... Either way this fight goes, it isn't seeing a third round
