There is a real risk that sharing photos of students in their practice could land you in trouble with regards to data protection. But when the photo isn't achieving what you think it is, you have to ask yourself is there any point in taking that risk and doing it in the first place.
You can't see yoga from the outside therefore what are you really taking a picture of?
When you sit and ask yourself this question you start to ask yourself the deeper questions about what is yoga if it's not poses, relaxation, and breathing techniques.
Here's where knowing a little yoga philosophy is going to help you answer that question and help you communicate how yoga isn't just something that happens on a rubber mat.
you can't take a picture of the informed choice a student makes to back away from doing so many chaturangas because their wrist is hurting.
you can't take a picture of the clarity a student experiences following an argument they'd had at work earlier in the day.
you can't take a picture of the boundary a student decides to set with a friend who's been taking the p**s out of their generosity for way too long.
And yet these real life situations experienced by your students are much more the outcome of a philosophy informed yoga practice than a picture of someone laying on the floor covered in blankets with an eye pillow on their face.
