Match Report – Lanivet vs Tamar View Vets
Tamar View Vets made the hour-long trip to Bodmin to face Lanivet, but the game got off to a difficult start. Within the first 15 minutes, Lanivet had taken control of the match, scoring twice to go 2–0 up, both coming from attacks down their left-hand side.
Tamar View responded by switching to a back four, which helped settle the game. From that point on, the visitors began to grow into the match, dominating possession and applying more pressure on the Lanivet defence. Despite the improvement, Tamar View went into halftime trailing 2–0.
At the break, the manager made a change, bringing Mike Norman onto the field. The adjustment had an immediate impact, and soon after the restart Tamar View pulled a goal back through Jason Arnold to make it 2–1.
The game then became much more evenly balanced, with both sides creating chances. Tamar View were kept in the contest thanks to some outstanding goalkeeping from Darren Jenkins, who was deservedly named Man of the Match. Although there was little he could do about the first two goals—having been overloaded at times—he produced several excellent saves to keep his side in the game.
With around 15 minutes remaining, Tamar View pushed for an equaliser. The manager switched back to a back three and added an extra player up front in an attempt to chase the game. Unfortunately, the gamble left space at the back and, following a defensive mistake, Lanivet capitalised on the counterattack to make it 3–1.
That proved to be the final score as Tamar View Vets made the journey back to not-so-sunny Plymouth.
