FOUNDER OF CLUB KOMBAT (SOON TO BE RETURNING TO NIGHTCLUBS)

After 13 years in the industry I have made it my mission to understand how to embed diversity into my fitness practice. I’ve retrained myself to be an inclusive, trauma informed coach and through my own injuries and impairments have allowed others feel comfortable with their barriers, I don't call them excuses, I

truly try to understand people's struggles. We find modifications and ways around everything I aim to make everyone feel valued and comfortable! I like to give people my time and every person becomes part of my team. You will have an input into what our team's values are, what sessions, music and activities you’d like to see, we work together and share ideas! I offer many affordable payment options and discounts for ambassadors! Corporate fitness classes are also available for organisations with a social purpose - please enquire for details and let’s look after our health & wellbeing together! Nadia

Many instructors think offering options is simply good customer service,
It's more than that
Choice helps restore autonomy.

For clients who feel overwhelmed by pressure, uncertainty or previous negative fitness experiences, having options can significantly improve participation.

Instead of:
"Everyone does this exercise."
Try:
"Here are three ways you can approach this movement today."
Choice creates engagement.
Control creates safety.
Safety creates consistency.

Specialisation creates clarity,
When people know exactly who you help and how you help them, trust grows faster.

Trauma-informed coaches aren't simply teaching exercise.

They're creating environments where people feel respected, supported and understood.

That's what keeps people coming back,
That's what creates referrals,
That's what builds community.

Psychological safety isn't always obvious.

Many clients won't tell you when they're uncomfortable,
Instead, they communicate through behaviour.

The more aware we become of these patterns, the more effectively we can support participation and retention.

I wasn't scared of exercise,
I was scared of how the environment made me feel.

The loud music,
The unpredictability,
The pressure to keep up.

Nobody noticed,
Then I found an instructor who offered options, spoke calmly and never made me feel behind.

For the first time, movement felt supportive instead of stressful.

That's why trauma-informed coaching matters.

If you've ever heard a story like this, share this reel.

Language shapes experience,
Small changes can completely alter how safe a client feels.

❌ "Keep going."
✔ "Notice what feels sustainable."
❌ "No excuses."
✔ "Let's work with where you're at today."
❌ "You can rest later."
✔ "Take a pause if your body needs one."

The goal isn't lowering standards.
The goal is removing unnecessary pressure.

Fitness culture often celebrates visible effort,
The loudest,
The fastest,
The most energetic.

But nervous system regulation isn't always visible.

Some clients are managing anxiety while completing every exercise,
Some are navigating hypervigilance while staying present,
Some are pushing through internal discomfort that nobody else can see.

Trauma-informed coaching reminds us that effort doesn't always look dramatic,
Sometimes success is simply staying in the room.

Save this as a reminder for your next session.

One of the biggest mistakes in fitness is assuming a lack of engagement means a lack of commitment.

Sometimes a client stops showing up because their nervous system is overwhelmed, not because they don't care,
When people feel overstimulated, pressured, judged, or unsafe, attendance often drops.

The fitness industry has traditionally interpreted this as laziness.

Trauma-informed coaching asks a different question:
"What happened in this environment that made consistency harder?"

The instructors who retain clients longest often understand that behaviour is communication.

If we only look at motivation, we miss the real reason people leave.
