SBOV Sundays 2-1 Tamar View
And we are back for the 22/23 Season. Whilst a home fixture for SBOV, we found ourselves away from the Oak Villa on Manadon Astroturf which is apparently located about 4 feet from the surface of the sun.
Unfortunately there were some notable absentees from the matchday squad, with regular skipper Jack Davies out with a pretend hamstring injury, Hayden Mccormick preferring to spend time with his Mrs and Jake Lannin-spick escaping the heat and going to Barcelona. Nevertheless a great time to see new signings in action with Morgan and frosty making the matchday squad.
The match started slowly, with both sides struggling with the heat. We had some good periods of possession but Tamar View remained compact, chances were limited and neither side could capitalise on chances and the half ended 0-0.
The second half saw an injection of energy, with both sides moving the ball quickly. SB grew quickly into the game and about 10 minutes into the half an break down the left hand side was cut into Vice Captain Daniel Morahan about 25 yards out- he took one touch out of his feet and rocketed the ball into the top right hand corner, rattling the underside of the crossbar on its way into the net. Almost a sure thing for goal of the season already. 1-0 to SB.
Perhaps still mesmerised by how great the goal was SB were then caught sleeping, a carefully placed through ball split our defence and the Tamar View striker made it 1-1.
SB then rallied and through some great link up play George Davies played the ball through to last season's top goalscorer Jay Smith where he opened his tally with a tidy finish. 2-1 SB.
With a chance from Nicholas Cotton, threading a ball through the box just needing a tap in. And another from George deciding to swing a spaghetti leg at the ball rather than play a team mate through 1v1 we had failed to put the game out of reach.
Pressure was building through the final minutes with Tamar Views press culminating in a flying back post header from the TV captain. It would have levelled the game but for an unbelievable save from Brice Shields managing instead to parry it out for a corner.
The game ended 2-1 and SB have 3 points on the board. Up the SB.
