Fantastic efforts from all my regular circuiteers and a few new ones too. Very sadly this was the last of my Tuesday evening classes at the Life Centre. There is still an opportunity to do Strength & Conditioning with me 8.30am Monday mornings so hopefully see some of you there 💪

😁 A few weeks ago I rather spontaneously signed up for a little in-house competition at the Life Centre as something to re-motivate my own training. I immediately realised I'd been unrealistic in finding enough time to train between training others, and despite never letting my size be an excuse, lifting weights nearly as much as me was wildly over-ambitious.🙄 But very few females had entered the competition so I left my name on the list in the hope it may inspire a few more to join. 🥺

So on the day I just rocked with absolutely no thoughts of being competitive and even any expectation to finish. I just thought I'll start and see how far I get, if I do half of it I'll be more than happy. 😆

Well I only went and smashed it! 💪 I took my watch off so had no idea of the time and just got on with it, with much encouragement from coaches Scott and Chris. It was only on the last exercise, the dreaded burpees broad jumps, that I realised they hadn't just kindly let me carry on over the 30 minute cut off. I felt like it was taking hours!😲

When they said I was in with a chance of taking the lead they weren't going to let me go at my own pace even if I'd been happy with coming second. Technique went out the window and my burpees consisted of falling forward onto my face then somehow lurching back up to jump back down onto my face again! 😱

I'm still in shock that I beat the lead F time by 20 seconds and the coaches were too! The downside is I've now given myself a time to beat. 3 days later and I'm still feeling like I've wrestled a polar bear so I treated my circuits class to the challenge instead. They were amazing and totally deserve a huge Christmas dinner now 😋

So proud of our Plymouth Active Couch to 5k group. After 9 weeks of training on mostly glorious sunny evenings our efforts were rewarded with the most horrendous conditions at the Plymouth Running Festival today. A long delayed start spent cowering in the port-a loos followed by a sudden dash to to the start line due to lack of announcements then sloshing along roads running like rivers, a nasty headwind and the evil uphill finish. Nonetheless spirits stayed high, perhaps even boyed by the absurdity of it all and support from the volunteers and crowds was fantastic. We ran/stomped all the way finishing the 5k in under 38 minutes. Such a fantastic achievement, super well done to everyone involved, it was emotional, and very very very wet!

This dynamic class uses a variety of equipment while combining cardio and conditioning exercises with elements of agility, balance and coordination.

What's going on here then???! If there's ever a spare minute or 5 at the end of class we could fill it with a nice relaxing stretch....or better still the Wall Sit Challenge!! 😱 This is as much a test of mental endurance as strength so anyone can be the winner, you've just got to want it the most! 💪 Well done to all my fabulous circuiters at the Life Centre this evening, excellent efforts all round and all done with a smile, or a grimace! 😁😬)
(Circuits every Tuesday 6:30pm , for a mix of cardio, resistance and power based interval training for all abilities)

So pleased to have been invited to teach classes at the newly opened Hub at Foulston Park and welcome back the members of the former Brickfields sports centre that I used to exercise alongside. Fantastistic new facilities in this beautiful re-vamped building, now with a café to treat ourselves after workout. And check out the view to distract ourselves, even better when there's a game on! ☕🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♀️🏋️🤸🏉
