HELP STOP THE SPREAD OF INVASIVE PLANTS AND ANIMALS IN OUR WATERS!
Over 50 non-native freshwater species from all over the world have been introduced to our British waters.
BUT WHY ARE THEY SUCH A PROBLEM?
These invasive species are threatening the populations of native British species and causing environmental problems in our waters. they can also interfere with the activities you enjoy by clogging propellers, damaging boats and blocking up waterways.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT THIS?
CHECK your equipment and clothing for mud, aquatic animals or plant material and remove everything you find. CLEAN everything thoroughly using hot water. Finally, DRY everything for as long as possible before using it elsewhere as these invasive species can survive for over two weeks in damp conditions.
