University of Brighton Equestrian Team To join it's easy (Any Brighton uni student can!)

Ride & compete or just be part of the society! No horse required. Pretty great, huh? I thought so.

What do we do...? Well, our more advanced riders compete against other universities as part of BUCS Sport
The training for this runs on Tuesda

y evenings and specialises in both Show Jumping and Dressage. Novice and Intermediate riders have training on Wednesday afternoons (Don't worry university tends to keep these free so people can do sport!)
and can compete in fun competitions against each other and there's even talk of friendlies against sussex! How do the BUCS comps work? The BUCS competition involves riding horses we don't know against other universities, there are two mini leagues: Championship and Trophy, followed by a Regionals and finishes with National Championships. It's a really great way to compete in a team without having to own a horse! Anything else? We also have socials, we can enter a team for the Royal Windsor Show and sports awards is one of the highlights of the year. Oooh and there's always our sister club the Polo Team...

Last year the equestrian team expanded, supporting the launch of the SUPA Polo league Team. This was such a success that they took off on their own and we now run alongside each other as sister clubs. They train at FHM Polo West End Farm and here's their page so get involved for lessons (anyone can go!):

Brighton Uni Equestrian Team welcomes all, whether you want to compete, learn to ride or simply just join in at our social events (when they’re allowed to take place again😁) If you don’t want to ride, there are also opportunities for those who want to help groom at shows and spend time around horses. We also have a few roles on our committee that we need to fill. You can go for any position you like. There will be a handover, along with training and any help needed to fill a roll!✨

LOOKING FOR RIDERS!

Hello guys! We are opening up the team for some more riders 🐴 If you love horses and want to compete or just ride alongside uni then get in touch with your riding history and maybe a video/photo of you too! We train every Wednesday at 2pm and 3pm at the cost of £25 - there are reserve spots open for both teams and may be team places open soon... so please get in touch! X

*HELPERS WANTED*
Hi guys! We’re looking for helpers for our B Team home competition on 30th October! It’ll be a super fun day and you can even get one or two free rides out of it as we will need riders to demo our horses to the judges! Any help is welcome and will be hugely appreciated by us all and you get to spend the day with horses so win win! 🤩💫🌟

Time: 7/7:30am - 3:30/4pm
Location: Plumpton College
Travel: free parking onsite and lifts can be arranged

It’s official👏🏻!! Plumpton College have very kindly let us continue to train and compete with them this year😁🐴 Lessons: Every Wednesday 2pm-3pm and 3pm-4pm (you choose what hour slot suits you best). We appreciate that this is during uni hours but if you explain to course leaders that you are training for BUCS, they may allow you to train and catch up on work.
