What do we do...? Well, our more advanced riders compete against other universities as part of BUCS Sport
The training for this runs on Tuesday evenings and specialises in both Show Jumping and Dressage. Novice and Intermediate riders have training on Wednesday afternoons (Don't worry university tends to keep these free so people can do sport!)
and can compete in fun competitions against each other and there's even talk of friendlies against sussex! How do the BUCS comps work? The BUCS competition involves riding horses we don't know against other universities, there are two mini leagues: Championship and Trophy, followed by a Regionals and finishes with National Championships. It's a really great way to compete in a team without having to own a horse! Anything else? We also have socials, we can enter a team for the Royal Windsor Show and sports awards is one of the highlights of the year. Oooh and there's always our sister club the Polo Team...
Last year the equestrian team expanded, supporting the launch of the SUPA Polo league Team. This was such a success that they took off on their own and we now run alongside each other as sister clubs. They train at FHM Polo West End Farm and here's their page so get involved for lessons (anyone can go!):
