Spring may be a little slow but play is commencing on-court in Pluckley. The court has been refurbished over the Winter and will get a lick of paint soon. Keep Jun 3 free to come and join us for the official opening.

In each round, each player plays with a different partner, keeping the number of games they win in each round during the morning towards their overall total. The player who has amassed most games at the end of the rounds is the winner of the Cup and there will be a prize for the runner up too.

We are pleased to say that outdoor tennis will be permitted again from 29th March. The court will be made available to book from that date and the Saturday morning club sessions will also resume. As ever, please do read the LTA guidance on playing during the pandemic.

The rules have changed since the court was last open and all members are expected to read and follow them. The Pavilion remains out of use but we hope to have a date for that reopening soon.

Unfortunately, in line with the recent lockdown announcement, the court is now closed and all future bookings have been cancelled. As in the past, we will reopen the court for booking as soon as the Government and LTA confirms we can legally do so.

With lockdown being lifted today sees the return of our Saturday Club Mornings, as well as court bookings for social play.

We are pleased to announce that our popular Saturday morning club sessions will restart this Saturday, 22 August. Each Saturday from 10-12, a member of the committee will host a mixed singles/doubles session using both the main court and the MUGA court.

The sessions will run much as before but will be limited to a maximum of 12 participants. There will be no access to the Pavilion or its contents for members. Social distancing will be maintained and members are responsible for their own safety so please bring your own sanitiser, etc. Obviously, if you are in any way ill, please do not attend.

If you have not previously attended but would like to give it a try then, please contact us by email with your mobile phone number. You will then be added to a WhatsApp group used for coordination.

Following this week's update from the government we've revised our guidance accordingly. Most specifically:

1) You may play singles or doubles with members of your household
2) You may play singles with someone who is not in your household

We urge all players to be responsible and take the appropriate precautions when using the facilities. The committee will keep the arrangements under review and if people flout the restrictions then there is a risk the club will have to close again.

The government has issued new guidance stating that from 13 May, tennis is a permitted activity. The committee consulted the Parish Council and then met online to discuss the impact of the new guidance. We are pleased to say that the main court is now open for booking, with some restrictions. Play is delayed until 11 today to accommodate the rugby. If all goes to plan England will win and the weather will hold out. Fingers crossed for both!
