PINXTON COMMUNITY GYM – MEMBERSHIP REMINDER

REMINDER – Please remember to check the dates and times for membership renewals and also new members, which are at the end of March. Details are posted on Facebook and on the gym door notice board for you to photo shoot.

Please check that your photo is not dated, still looks like you, is a passport photo and in good condition for recognition. If your photo does not meet the required standard your membership may be deferred until a new one has been obtained. You have time so do it now to avoid a delay on the day with your membership.

If you are away on the membership dates remember existing members are able to arrange for a friend or family member to renew their membership, pay their membership fee and exchange keys on your behalf. However new members will need to be there in person, bringing with them proof of residency in Pinxton or South Normanton, two passport photos (not ID photos), complete the membership form and pay the appropriate fee. (There are no card payment facilities available)

If your key is lost, damaged or bent, it will not be exchanged and you will need to purchase another key.

GYM MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL APRIL 2026 – MARCH 2027
PLEASE READ INFORMATION BELOW
All memberships are due to expire at the end of March 2026. You will therefore need to renew your membership if you wish to continue using the gym after this date as locks will be changed. This year there will be times allocated for renewals and new members so please try to come at the arranged time to avoid unnecessary queuing.
Please read what is required if you are intending to apply for membership.
To join the gym all members will need 2 passport photos of full face and shoulders, live in Pinxton or South Normanton and provide proof of residency, complete the membership form and pay the current joining fee, key hire is available if required.
So as you are able to join or renew the gym membership the following dates and times have been arranged.
Saturday 28th March Existing members 10am -12pm – New members 12pm - 2pm
Sunday 29th March Existing members 9am -11pm – New members 11am - 1pm
Wednesday 1st April 6pm – 8pm for those not available at the weekend.
Sunday 26th April prior to the trustees monthly meeting at 5 – 45pm – 6-45pm should there be any membership places still available.
Remember these are the times for joining and renewal so please don’t leave your membership until too late and places are full as there are no exceptions and places are limited. The membership is done on a first come first served basis.
• There is no increase in the cost of membership this year, so the rate remains £80 and £65 for ladies and over 60`s. The gym continues to provide the most outstanding value anywhere for training facilities and commits itself to its ethos and principals of `providing `affordable facilities to all`.
• Keys will be exchanged providing they are not damaged or bent, or will be available for hire at a one off payment of £25. (Keys always remain the property of the gym)
• Again this year your membership can be done by a friend or family member providing your details have not changed and your photo is up to date. So please check your photo as some are old/dated.
• Updates on personal information must be done at the time of joining including contact numbers, address and any other relevant information.
• If your photo is dated and needs renewing please bring 2 new ones or risk being refused membership.
• Please don’t come asking for preferential treatment or abusing a friendship and if you want to continue using the gym renew or join at the designated time.
• There are no exceptions to the above and times are clear. Please do not ask for membership forms to be taken away.
• It is every member’s responsibility to read and respond to all notices in the gym and abide by the information stated thereon otherwise loss of membership may result. Remember the gym is monitored constantly by CCTV.

Visited Pinxton Community Gym recently — and I have to say, it’s a real credit to the village.

Places like this don’t always get the recognition they deserve. This gym has been part of the community since 1984 providing affordable memberships for local residents.

It’s not just about fitness — it’s about belonging, and looking after one another. Richard and the rest of the team behind it should be incredibly proud.

Hello everyone, another update on the forthcoming changes at the gym. The landlords will be coming in to start their works to the gym on March 7th and it has been anticipated this works will be completed by March 25th. If however the works are completed ahead of schedule you will be informed and the gym reopened for use. The works scheduled include a general upgrade including new doors, LED lighting, rewiring and extra facilities to enhance the gym. I am sorry the work could not have taken place earlier when the gym was closed but unfortunately this is how it was at the time, but in the end it will all be worth it. I don’t think anyone can grumble about the changes so far, so please bear with us and we don’t think you will be disappointed. Further works to resurface the front of the gym and improve parking is also scheduled to take place sometime late spring. Sometimes rumours are created about what is happening and planned for the future, please don’t listen to anything other than the official version and if there are any concerns or questions feel free to ask. The last year has seen some tremendous changes at the gym that will benefit everyone and at the moment there has been lots of interest from people wanting to join. The membership dates and times will be published soon so keep your eye out and don’t miss out on your membership renewal. Remember membership is limited and is done on a first come first served basis.

Hello everyone
Great news, all the replacement equipment is now installed with only a few minor items to sort out. Up to yet we have only had positive feedback from members and we are so glad everyone is happy with the equipment, so please enjoy this wonderful facility we have created. We know there may be something missing from somebody’s wish list but we always strive to do the best we can for the gym and its members. At this time we have to give a huge thank you to Bolsover District Council and Pulse Gym Equipment for their input and sponsorship arrangements that have made this refurbishment possible as without this support we would not have been able to do so much in such a short time. Remember the gym is only as good as its members so when using the gym treat it with respect and please abide by the simple rules the gym survives by. Try to keep it clean, safe, secure, wear suitable and appropriate clothing, do not wear work clothes and remember to wipe your feet on entry. You are still required to register on entry and on leaving, clean equipment after use with the equipment supplied and ensure weights are all put away after use, lights off and building left secure on leaving. If you see someone forgetting any of the above please politely remind them or inform the trustees as to what has occurred and when. All gym users are equal in their responsibilities and no one is exempt from the above. Please continue to enjoy the wonderful facility we have.
