I currently compete my own horse in show jumping but i also ride and compete for other people on their horses. I first started having lessons at the age of six in a riding school which was also where I loaned my first pony. she was a 13 hand welsh section B and she taught me most of the basics and made me start to enjoy jumping. But it wasn't until I owned my first pony that I really started to en
joy competing and particularly show jumping. His name is Bobby, a 14.2hh Irish Cob X. He taught me how to ride courses of fences properly and gave me so much confidence with jumping larger fences, which really prepared me for the horse I have now. Wafer is a skewbald 16hh, 8 year old Irish Sport Horse who has been a bit of a project for me but has really started to show me what he can do. We are now affiliated and I aim to gain him more competition experience so that I can eventually sell him to buy a horse that can take me up through the higher levels. I enjoy riding for other people especially owners with horses that need a little bringing on (references available on request) as I love seeing the improvement in a horse once they understand what you are asking of them and gain confidence. I have always made a point, when riding for owners with inexperienced horses in need of more schooling, to take it at the horses pace as I believe this is how you achieve the best results in the long run. As well as riding for owners I have also had some experience in teaching, mainly children which I really enjoy as I find it extremely rewarding watching people improve and enjoy their horse/pony. Because I am as yet not qualified as a coach I don't specifically advertise myself as an instructor but I do give lessons on request. However I am currently following the BHS coaching pathway and hope to be qualified within the next year so that I can progress with coaching as it is something I really want to do more of. Although I have mainly had experience teaching children I have taught various ages of riders so am open to any age or level.
