A brief history of Longside Golf Club
In 1973 a group of local villagers dreamed of having their own golf course in Longside. After years of hard work planning and fund raising this dream finally became a reality in 1979 when the 9 hole course opened for general play. Further progress was made in 1988 when the original clubhouse was upgraded and extended and in 1991 a proposal to extend the golf c

ourse to 18 holes was granted. An area of land was gifted by Mrs Hay of Bridgend in memory of her late husband and further land was purchased from local landowners. To prepare for the increase of machinery and workload required to maintain 18 holes it was agreed that a green-keepers shed and workshop would be required and this duly opened in October 1993. The extension to the course was officially open for play on the 6th April 1996.

A huge thank you to everyone who entered our texas scramble open today, our first open of the season. The weather forecast wasnt looking in our favour for a while, but thankfully with only a few light showers early afternoon, there was loads of great golf played. We hope you all enjoyed your day as much as we did. Below is a list of all todays winners. Congratulations to you all.

A seriously busy day at Longside today 💪

The greenkeeping team have put in a huge shift over the last few months getting the course in top shape for this years season. Today’s focus was on installing new drainage and carrying out some much-needed improvements on the 4th fairway.

As you can see, the work is already making an immediate difference in moving the water. With a bit of luck, over the next couple of days all their hard work will really start to pay off 👏🌱

Also pictured are our new purchases for this season: on the left, our new greens mower, and on the right, our new zero-turn deck mower. These new machines will make the greenkeeping staff’s jobs that bit easier throughout the season and help keep the course at its very best.
