Saturday (June 6) saw Peterborough Phantoms Women make the long trip down to Kent for their final game of the 2025/2026 season against the Medway Red Kites.
In what was an evenly matched game, two early goals from the home side saw them have early momentum in the opening exchanges, with Phantoms running into penalty trouble soon after with captain #97 Kitty Evans sitting two minutes for tripping.
Phantoms settled into their stride soon after the penalty kill, with #13 Stacie Horn pulling a goal back to make the score 2-1, before the Red Kites scored again to regain their two goal lead to end the period.
Period two saw the Phantoms keeping the Red Kites at bay before Evans scored the first of four goals to tie the game at 3-3. She grabbed her second of the game moments later connecting with a pass from goaltender #64 Rosie Chapman and slotting home to give Phantoms the lead.
Phantoms then extended that lead with an unassisted goal from #43 Hollie Barnes, before Evan completed her hat-trick in the final minutes of the period. The Red Kites also managed to pull one back in the dying moments with an unassisted goal that was slotted home past Chapman.
The final period saw Phantoms on an early penalty kill through a hooking call, which the team successfully killed off. The Red Kites then even the score at 5-5 with less than 10 minutes remaining, before Evans completed her goal tally with number four, unassisted, with around 5 minutes to play, therefore sealing the 6-5 win for her side - a result which sees the team finish in second place overall in their Frank Wright Conference group.
With the season complete, Phantoms Women now look forward to summer training as preparations for the 2026/2027 season begin.
