💥WMAC WELSH OPEN🏴💥
Last weekend saw a strong squad of 6 of us travel down to Cardiff to compete at the Welsh Open! After a longish trek for us we came back with some fantastic results!!

⭐Beth Jones 🏆⭐
Beth competed in traditional forms for the final time before her break from competition, and it was one of her best kata performances to date. Great power with her hand techniques, solids kicks and no mistakes secured her a score good enough for gold! A perfect way to start the competition for the team and her well earned break. We can’t wait to see her next kata performance when she returns to the mats
⭐Flora Witt 🥉⭐
Flora’s growing confidence off the mats shone through on the mats in Wales, fighting some very strong opponents. Flora performed very well in her semi final, brave and committed until the end but unfortunately the scores didn’t fall her way, her opponent was just a little bit faster. However, Flora was fantastic in the bronze medal fight against a much taller fighter. She confidently blocked every kick and countered well. When her opponent changed her approach Flora listened to instructions and adapted very well, seeing out the round to win the bronze medal. A great effort and continues to make big improvements!
⭐Adam Taylor🥉🥉⭐
It’s never easy having to wait to the end of the event for your categories, but it didn’t stop Adam giving it his all. He performed well in his Hands Only Points, keeping the scores close in the semi final, his opponent wary of his counter reverses. Adam walked away with the bronze. He also fought in Points against a very strong and experienced kicker. He fought well but gained a lot of experience and lessons learned, and came away with another bronze.
⭐Nick Hargrave🥈🥉🥉🥉⭐
As always Nick had very competitive categories which led to him coming up against some very seasoned international fighters; but he didn’t let that bother him. He showed massive improvements that are continuing to show and develop! He was listening to his coach and applied what was being said and with that we couldn’t have been prouder of his performances
⭐Autumn May 🏆🏆🏆 🥈🥈⭐
In her kicklight division being her first of the day was amazing. She was sharp in her movements and landing some good shots. She applied changes from her coach and was confident in the fight resulting in her getting a 1st place medal and being a Welsh champion!
In both her continuous divisions which were back to back she didn’t let that hold her down and continued to fight with determination! She came up some very solid fighters in these divisions and continued to shine! She took a 1st place and a 2nd place in her higher division
Her points & hands only divisions were outstanding! After fighting some of these fighters in her light con divisions she knew how to get those clean shots. A beauty of a hook hick landed which we all loved to see! Huge well done to autumn!! We are so proud of how you performed.
⭐David May 🏆🏆⭐
Finally got that taste of GOLD! He doesn't compete very often and he has made it his mission this year to be the year he competes and to attend his very First World Championships alongside the team! Although he has medaled numerous of times,, that Gold has always just been out of reach....until now! 💪
David competed in 2 sections last weekend being points and hands only!
After taking not one but TWO 1st place medals, proud was an understatement. He came up with smart moves which landed him to being Welsh open champion x2! 🏆🏆
After having came up with the same opponent in both these categories he knew what was needed and how to win. Improvements showed and with that he deserved to win these categories! Onwards and upwards,, the training has definitely started to show!
Well-done Team! Lots of improvements and experience earned! It's all finally coming together and showing within our fighting.
Next stop...WMAC NORTH LINCS OPEN.
