So…..Exam season is in full swing!
A silent exam room is full of determination and nerves for what is next; every student has their own story unfolding.

But in the quiet, there is also space for a bit of daydreaming. 💭 🥰

What do you think about when everything goes still? Holidays, fresh air or something completely different?

I was gifted a place at a beautiful sound bath retreat, ran by the lovely , a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.
I slowed down, felt the sun on my face and I think I did a few snores 💤 too!!

It’s a beautiful feeling when kindness comes our way, today I’m feeling grateful and inspired to pay it forward 🤍

Little tip….I picked up these coloured overlays in Sainsbury’s for just £3!!

They can help students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, or visual stress by reducing glare and making text easier to process and less overwhelming.

Even if you don’t work in education, you might have someone in your life with a reading difficulty so little adjustments like this can help to remove barriers and build confidence.

£3 might make learning feel easier and a positive difference to someone’s daily life.

“I just want to feel confident again.” That’s what a client spoke to me about this week.
(Obviously, they were happy for me to share that)

Not more successful, not more qualified and not more experienced…but Confident.

Many of us are functioning well on the outside but quietly doubting ourselves on the inside. Confidence isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about reconnecting with who we already are beneath the daily pressure and all the expectations.

One simple little exercise I will share if you need a little nudge to reconnect with your confidence is to write down three moments in your career or life when you handled something difficult well. Not perfectly, Just well or well enough.

Confidence returns when we reconnect with evidence of our own capability, not when we chase external validation. So bring it back to you, put yourself at the centre.

You already have proof. You just need to remember it.

Plodding through the snow, ice and mist to reach a viewpoint in Norway was a bit hairy at times but the fresh air and outdoor exercise brought a beautiful sense of calm, quietness and clarity.

Being out in nature is so good for wellbeing and for many children, especially those with additional needs, being outdoors helps regulate emotions, reduce overwhelm and improve focus. I often take numeracy lessons outside, counting daisy’s and matching stone sizes.

Over the Easter holidays, try a simple nature reset, take a walk, notice colours, listen to sounds or explore different textures, shapes and sizes.

Learning environments shape learning mindsets.

Walking through Oxford made me want to take some of my learners there. In education we should inspire curiosity, confidence and fun!

Inclusive learning is about removing barriers so every learner has the opportunity to thrive and reach their own goal whatever that is

Because when people feel they belong, they learn better.

Had the opportunity to peek behind the scenes and experience how subjects are taught in a truly hands-on, practical way in the public restaurant at Peterborough College.

It was amazing to see learning brought to life like this; engaging, fun and connected to real world experience.

Moments like this really highlight how powerful practical, inclusive approaches can be. When learning is active and accessible, it creates space for every learner to build confidence, develop skills and truly understand what they’re doing, not just memorise it.

It’s given me lots of ideas for how we can continue to create more inclusive, immersive learning experiences that meet different needs and learning styles.

Always so valuable to step outside your own environment, feel inspired and give yourself space for fresh ideas to land.

At the weekend I stepped away from students and uni work to attend a retreat, by the lovely
giving myself space to pause, reflect and reset.

We can’t support others effectively if we’re running on empty. Inclusive teaching can be hard, it isn’t just about strategies, it’s about being self-aware and having bundles of energy.
It may be hard but it’s certainly worth it 😃

We all need to remember that despite what it says about the 5am club and the endless to do lists, stepping back isn’t a weakness, it’s part of the work and much needed.
