OB CITY BEDFORDS 2nds โ 2025/26 Season Review
The 2025/26 campaign was one of resilience, development, determination and a rebuild for OB City Bedford 2nds in the Bedford and District Sunday Football League.
Competing in Division Four against a mix of experienced Sunday league sides, OB Cityโs second team faced a challenging season but continued to show commitment, spirit and flashes of real quality throughout the year. The squad battled hard week in, week out, finishing the campaign with 7 wins, and 3 draws, with 48 goals scored across the season.
Despite difficult results at times, having many departures from the previous season and needing a rebuild, there were plenty of positives to take from the season. The team, under the new leadership of Steven Miles and Daniel Billington, consistently turned up with energy and togetherness, even against some of the strongest sides in the division. Victories against fellow Division Four opposition, including being the only team in the division not beaten by the eventual Champions (1 win and 1 Draw) showed the sideโs attacking ability and willingness to compete, while several players stepped up with standout performances over the course of the campaign.
One of the biggest strengths of OB City 2nds this season was squad unity. From experienced heads to younger players developing their game, the team continued to build a competitive environment and a strong club and team culture. The side also provided an important pathway within the wider OB City setup, giving players valuable minutes and opportunities to grow in competitive football.
The season statistics perhaps do not tell the full story. There were numerous tight games, draws that could/ should have been victories, and spirited performances where the effort and attitude of the squad deserved credit. Even in difficult moments, the team continued to fight and represent the club with pride.
Special recognition goes to the players and management team for their dedication throughout a long Sunday league season. Grassroots football relies on commitment, and OB City 2nds showed exactly that every single week.
Looking ahead, there is genuine optimism for next season. With another year of experience, a stronger squad foundation and lessons learned from this campaign, OB City 2nds have every reason to believe they can push higher up the Division Four table in 2026/27. New Players are also welcome so please reach out if interested.
The foundations are there and now it is about building consistency, continuing the development of the squad and turning performances into results.
Now for the squad to look forward to the Annual Club Awards Night on the 13th June, and before that a season concluding Stadium Game at the home of Peterborough United on the 24th May with a 10.45am Kick Off.
