Match Report – 9/5/26
Stanground Cardea Sports vs Nene Valley
Today saw us bring our first 7v7 season to a close — and what a way to do it.
The boys played like a well-oiled machine, moving through the gears to deliver a performance full of grit, determination, and real quality. Every single player played their part.
AT10 was calm and composed wherever he featured — in goal, centre mid, and on the right — linking play superbly throughout.
JM7 was strong and dominant at the back, carrying the ball out of defence and picking his passes with confidence. He rounded things off with a superbly taken free kick (he and AR17 may need to agree on who got the final touch!).
AB5 put in another massive performance. Over the last three games, he’s been relentless in the tackle, driving out from the back brilliantly and finding teammates with measured passes.
FG20 was another who showed great composure in possession, demonstrating what an asset his left foot is — contributing with a lovely assist and a well-taken goal.
SS8, our iron man in the middle, never stopped working. His attitude is incredible, and he put in a true captain’s performance to drive the team forward.
ZK6 was relentless on the right flank, linking up brilliantly with teammates and showing his eye for goal with three scintillating strikes. Those goals secured him the 25/26 Golden Boot — by a whisker. Outstanding, ZK6.
AR17 delivered another superb display — full of energy, finding great positions, and earning a free kick which he buried straight into the top bins. What a strike.
JF20 had one of his best games for us today. He linked play brilliantly, highlighted by a superb flowing move that sent FG20 down the left to cross for ZK6 to finish. He also grabbed himself a goal and can be very proud of his return this season.
CWC9 produced another monstrous performance at the back — strong in the challenge, driving forward into midfield, and setting the team on their way time and again.
And last but not least, our Player of the Match — LC4. A true Rolls-Royce at the back today: calm, composed, and fiercely competitive. An outstanding display and a thoroughly deserved award.
A big thank you to the referee and to our opponents, Nene Valley. Most importantly, thank you to our brilliant parents and fantastic team — it’s been a thoroughly enjoyable season.
The celebrations continued with post-match laser tag at Rumble, where the team sharpened their “combat skills” even further!
Let’s go and have a brilliant summer, Purples!
