I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who has liked and shared my new page Roar Stars and sent me messages of support. I am incredibly grateful and it means the absolute world to me.

If you haven't yet transferred your likes to the new page, please do as I won't be using this page at all as we move forward.

I'm sure you will all know that I can not wait to get back into the swing of things. I am waiting to be given the green light from the Leisure Centre for our Saturday morning and Wednesday evening sessions to get going again and as soon as I do, I will be letting you all know straight away.

Just to make it clear, if you had a place with me before then your place will still be open to you and the same goes for children waiting patiently on the waiting list. If you were there before you are still there now. I am most certainly not starting from scratch and I am sure it will feel exactly the same as it did back in March.

I think it is about time for us to share some extremely exciting news with you all...

As many of you will be aware, TinyTykes Peterborough began in October 2013 and I took it on as part of a franchise from Challenger Sports, a company that first of all gave me the opportunity to coach out in the USA and then gave me the opportunity to run a franchise under their internationally renowned umbrella. I started off from scratch and now I am proud to be coaching over 300 children a week and have a member of staff coaching full time in a local primary school. However, all good things come to an end and I will now no longer be running a franchise under their guidance; I can only thank the company for the opportunities that they have given me over the years.

But as one door closes, another one opens and although the last few months have been tough, it was certainly not going to beat us. We will be back, running the same sessions throughout the week and at weekends and with even more sessions planned in the school holidays… trust me when I say, we will be back better than ever before.

So I am incredibly proud to share my new business name with you today.

Welcome to our new phase… We are Roar Stars!

Please like our new page to continue with us on our exciting journey.

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’re all keeping well!

Just a bit of an update from me on where we are at in terms of getting sessions back up and running. Our Saturday sessions unfortunately still remain suspended. Until the Leisure Centre reopens again we won’t be running any of those sessions. We are hopeful 🤞🏼 that we can start them again in September but that is purely me just guessing at this stage.

With regards to Sports Camps, thank you to everyone who has been in touch and enquiring about them. With the announcement last week, it looks like they ‘could’ be possible but we are still looking at ways to get them on safely and most of all making sure that they are enjoyable for the kids too. If they run, we are planning on a camp towards the end of the summer holidays.

As soon as I have more news for you, I promise I will let you all know straight away. I’m absolutely desperate to be back out working with all the kids and I really hope this will be possible sooner rather than later.

Take Care,

TeamTinyTykes 🦁

It’s been a very strange time for all of us over the last few months. Today we start to make our first mini steps back to some kind of normal. I would just like to say well done to the teachers, nursery workers and all the other fantastic key workers, who have been working incredibly hard and will now be working even harder to make sure our children are safe, well and engaged.

Take care everyone & stay safe.

Time to start warming up the trusty fog horn for me 🗣

A few weeks ago I told you all that I was nominated for the Peterborough Telegraph Community Sports Award, and well ... I won.

All I can say is one massive ‘Thank You’ to everyone who voted for me. I am genuinely touched to have received this award. It really means the world to me that so many of you took the time to vote. Thank you again to you all.

I can’t wait to be back doing what I love hopefully sooner rather than later. Stay safe everyone and I’ll see you soon.

Good morning everyone, I hope you and your families are all keeping well ... the sun is shining and at least that’s one reason to smile this morning 😁🌞

I’ve been thinking ... at the sessions I see a lot of you taking photos and videos of the children as they are all playing and I very rarely get to see them.

So, today’s challenge is to post in the comments some of your favourite photos or videos (past and present) of your TinyTykes at the sessions. I’m sure there will be a few great ones if you scroll back in your phone far enough 📷🦁📹 I mean, I’m sure you all took photos at the children’s first session 😉

Have a great day everyone and I look forward to seeing your posts 😁

Well this Saturday morning was a bit different from the usual. But I’m certainly trying to see the positives and I got to spend some quality time with my little superstar.

I keep telling myself, all these little people in our lives won’t ever really know what carnage is going on in the world at the minute. In many cases they are just seeing more of Mummy and Daddy... hang on a minute, they probably think this is great.

Just a quick message from me to thank all the parents for their lovely messages of support over the last week or so. Heart warming and incredibly reassuring are two things that spring to mind.

As uncertain are the days ahead, please rest assured we will be back as soon as possible and better than ever.

Love to you and your families, we will get through this together.

When I started TinyTykes Peterborough 6 and a half years ago it was beyond my wildest dreams to be in the position I am in now. I’ve been able to coach so many young children and been able to watch them develop not only skills that they can use in a variety of sports, but, I hope, many life skills as well. I’ve watched many grow into wonderful little humans.

Now, everyone will tell you that in this line of work that you don’t do it for the accolade but when someone takes the time to nominate you for an award, it’s touching to say the least, in fact it’s even more than that, it’s incredibly special.

I’m very honoured to say I’ve been nominated for the Peterborough Telegraph Community Sports Award. If you would like to vote for me, texts cost £1 and you simply have to text 85100 with the message:

PT SPORT Richard Pickering Community Sports Award and then your name.

What makes this even better is that one of my very first TinyTykes is also up for an award too. Little Oliver started coming to TinyTykes when I was running sessions at the Green School in Deeping and finished last year as, unfortunately for me, he was too old and it was time for him to start playing for a team. His Mum tells me that he is thriving at Langtoft Vikings and I love catching up with him at school where he always tells me about his latest football match. He’s a wonderful, wonderful little boy and if you are going to vote for anyone, he should be the one that gets your vote.

To vote for Oliver please text 85100:
PT SPORT Oliver Chapman Disabled Achiever Award and then your name.

Thanks to the children, parents, nurseries and schools who have supported me and the sessions over the years, I hope that I’m able to do this for many, many years to come.
