Women’s restricted ‘B’ doubles category winning a three-set final 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 at the Hunstanton Tennis Tournament in August.

Castor & Ailsworth tennis club has a new membership category - “competition member” for £10 per month including 2 match fees worth £4.50 each (£9 total).
Castor have two teams (A&B) in the Peterborough District Tennis League playing on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Join at www.catennis.co.uk

It's fun social tennis. The format is 3 pairs playing 3 sets of 13 games. Men & women can play in the league.

Congratulations to our Castor and Ailsworth Tennis Club Pickleball coach - Pep Giuliano for winning a silver medal at the World Pickleball Championships in Mumbai. We are all hoping his success continues!

Outstanding Results from Castor and Ailsworth Tennis Club Pickleballers!
Pickleball - the fastest growing sport in Britain, Europe and the USA.
16 players from our club went to the Bolton Arena to play in the English Nationals Pickleball event.
1100 competitors played over four days and didn’t we do well!
Snober Ali and Michelle Gordon-Colegrove won a gold medal for the ladies doubles in their age category, Snober also won bronze in the mixed doubles. Nick Neil won bronze in men’s doubles, Richard and Vanessa Ingham won bronze in mixed doubles. Julie Naylor and Jonny Revell, Michelle Gordon-Colgrove and James Wells, Richard and Vanessa Ingham were all narrowly beaten to 4th place in the mixed and gender doubles. Everyone played so well under pressure. Thanks go to all our competitors and to Pep Giuliano for all our coaching tips. We will be back!

📊 *2024 Tennis Season - Updates and Standings* 📊

Dear all, thank you to everyone who has contributed to the CATC Tennis League Season this year.

As many of you are aware, it has been a challenging year with player availability and re-scheduling fixtures, so I'd like to extend an *extra special thanks* to the Team captains Shaun Cowan (PDL B team), Jane Scutt (H&P Ladies) and Will Burgess (H&P Mixed) for coordinating, organising, rallying...( _and every other positive verb I can think of_ ) our teams to make the matches happen and give our members some good tennis.

We have one fixture which is yet to be played in the Ladies H&P (vs Oundle B), but *overall we should remain in the same divisions across all teams*, finishing mid-to-low in the respective division.

Final position: 4th out of 7 teams. Given the challenging season, a respectable result and should keep us in Div4 for next season.

*CATC H&P Ladies*
A massively challenging season with player and team availability which unfortunately led to a few forfeits across the whole division.

Lost 3 (2 of which were forfeits)

The final results are yet to be updated on the webiste but we know that Chatteris and Papworth both Won 0 (with some draws) so we should finish mid-table and remain in Div4.

Lost 8 (including 3 forfeits)

Again a challenging season for player and team availability but this should keep us mid-table in Div2, as usual.

A fantastic performance from the newly formed B team should keep them mid-table in Div3.

Ladies Doubles Tennis Winners !

Congratulations to Judy Dallas and Lisa McDonough who retained their trophy for the fifth consecutive year and the sixth time overall by defeating Amy Miller-Fox and Jenny Rice 6 – 4 6 – 1 yesterday.
The three couples who entered this season agreed to play a league format with every pair playing every other pair but, in practice, since both of these couples had won their previous match, it amounted to a decisive final.

The English Open Pickleball Competition, Telford International Centre. 2024.

Congratulations to Pep Giuliano and Richard Ingham from Castor and Ailsworth Tennis and Pickleball Club both winning Bronze medals, in different categories.
9 members took part and played amazingly well. Many were first timers at a major competition, where there were over 2000 competitors from more than 40 countries.
Players included were Nicky Townsend, Snober Ali, Vanessa Ingham, Pep Giuliano, Scott Neil, Nick Neil, Mark Burden, Shaun Cowan, Richard Ingham.
