🌟 In Martyn's Memory 🌟

We are delighted to introduce Theodore 😍. This terms recipient of Martyn's Memorial Swim Space.

Alice, his mummy, shared...

Theodore has a rare heart condition that requires lifelong monitoring and ongoing hospital care. Calmababy provides opportunities that no other pool has been able to offer us.

Due to his condition, Theodore struggles to regulate his body temperature and can become very cold and turn blue very quickly. However, because the pool at Calmababy are kept much warmer than standard swimming pools, and with the support of a wetsuit, Theodore is able to take part in swimming lessons just like any other child.

These lessons have also led us to stay after swimming in the cafe where Theodore and I can socialise with other mums and toddlers from the class. This has given us both a wonderful support network and new friendships, while allowing Theodore to enjoy normal childhood experiences.

Calmababy removes many of the restrictions Theodore faces because of his condition and allows him to live a more normal and inclusive life.

We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities and support they provide.

Thank you Alice - we are thrilled to offer you and Theodore the place.

Calmababy introduced Baby Massage to the City almost 30yrs ago! Since then Alison has led thousands upon thousands of parents in the gentle art of massaging their baby… and it’s still her favourite class to teach.

Next Course starts Tuesday 2nd June. 6-weeks including an extra session for Dads only, held at the weekend. Book now via the App or contact us.

✨ In Martyn’s Memory ✨.

Meet Millie, the joint recipient of Martyn’s Memorial Swim 💕.

We're grateful to her great Grandad Paul for sharing these heartfelt words…

“Millie is our first great granddaughter. Despite being full of energy and loving swimming, she faced a rough start, struggling to gain weight due to an atrial septal defect. Cardiac surgery may be necessary to correct this heart condition.

It's heartening that Millie will benefit from the Calmababy swim space. We've lost two sons to unexpected heart conditions, and we understand the pain of losing a loved one. Commemorating them and Martyn through this swim space feels like a fitting tribute.”

In Martyn’s Memory 🤍

We remember Martyn, our much-loved husband, father, grandad, colleague, and valued part of the community, who we sadly lost six months ago.

Martyn had a deep connection to this place. He especially loved meeting parents, chatting with children, and being part of everyday life here. He was proud to have helped build the centre in 2010, which made it all the more special to him.

In his loving memory, we are introducing a lasting tribute: every term, a free swim space will be offered to a child or family affected by a heart condition, in the hope that it brings comfort and support during difficult times.

We would like to thank all staff and customers for the kindness and support shown to our family over the past six months. It has meant more than words can say.

Martyn is deeply missed and always remembered. ❤️

Baby Massage & yoga help with the emergence, development and integration of reflexes, which means your baby is building the neurological foundations they need to grow, learn and thrive.

From their very first movements, babies are wired with primitive reflexes, automatic responses that help them survive and begin to make sense of the world around them. Through gentle, intentional touch and movement, baby massage and baby yoga stimulate the nervous system in ways that support these reflexes emerging at the right time, developing fully, and eventually integrating, making way for more controlled, voluntary movements.

This matters because well-integrated reflexes lay the groundwork for so much of what comes next: tummy time strength, rolling, crawling, coordination, balance, and even later skills like sitting still, focusing in school, and regulating emotions.

In other words, those quiet moments of massage and mindful movement with your baby? They’re not just bonding time (though they’re absolutely that too) they’re literally helping to shape your baby’s developing brain and body.

Meet Liz 👋

Having joined the team almost three years ago, Liz is one of our wonderful baby and pre-school swim teachers.

She loves all the classes at Calmababy, and her favourite part of her role is the people she meets. Seeing Noah develop his water confidence has been a special moment during her time here!

Outside of work, you'll usually find Liz at the gym, baking and reading. A fun fact about her is that she's a qualified accountant with more than 20 years of experience. 📚🧁

When asked to describe Calmababy in three words, Liz chose family, fun and friendship (although she says cake would be a close 4th!).
