This picture was taken the moment Emma got given a good lift, to get a 7kg total pb and qualify for her first British championship (in only her second competition ever)

While weightlifting is individual in the sense of the athlete has to be the one to make the lifts, it’s a team effort. From programming, feedback, adaptation in training to backroom control.

On comp day, a coach is there so all you have to do is lift. You don’t have to worry about what’s on the bar, when to lift it, how long until you go out to the platform. For some people, you don’t even need to worry about when to eat or drink.

This makes the sport feel more like you’re part of something, rather than an individual just simply lifting weights

Wendy claimed yet another championship with a 127.5kg deadlift (+2.5kg comp pb)

Best prep we’ve had yet, hit some pbs in training and progressing nicely

Unfortunately due to sickness I couldn’t be there to handle Wendy but she managed to look after herself and a huge thanks to for being there for Wendy on the day!

Qualified for worlds again, let’s go for the repeat and get in the 130s!

James had yet another comp, the last to see out the year, earning his second national medal this year

Unfortunately James was lifting at the same time as myself so I wasn’t able to handle him so a huge thanks to for stepping in and helping out!

85/107 for a 192 total, huge improvement on the jerks after bombing out 3 weeks ago
