City of Peterborough Sports Club is the largest multi sports club in the area offering Bowls, Cricket, Hockey, Squash & Racketball and Tennis based at the extensive grounds of Bretton Gate, known as the Dalrod Sports Ground.

🌱 End-of-season renovations are underway! 🎾🟢

There’s plenty happening around the club as we start preparing our playing surfaces for next season.

🎾 Tennis – renovation work has started to refresh and maintain the courts.
🟢 Bowls – the green is undergoing its end-of-season treatment and renovation.
🏏 Cricket – work on the square gets underway next week.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes at this time of year to keep our facilities in the best possible condition and ready for another season.

A big thank you to everyone involved in keeping the club looking and playing its best! 👏

What a lovely morning here at the club! ☀️🏑

Hockey is ready for the first league weekend of the season and the second Sunday of mini hockey. 💪

✅ Pitch swept – with a nice raised pile
✅ Debris hand-removed from the playing surface
✅ Stands checked
✅ Rubbish cleared away
✅ Bins emptied
✅ Goals repaired

The sports club was delighted to host a large summer event for around 350 guests from one of our major local businesses this weekend. ☀️🎪

We were treated to fantastic weather, great food 🍔🌭 and plenty of entertainment 🎶 for everyone who attended.

A huge amount of work went into getting everything ready at relatively short notice, so a big thank you to the whole team for making the event such a success. 👏👏

Special thanks to Phil, Nick, Mark and Ash for all their hard work in getting everything set up and running smoothly. 💪

Well done everyone – another great event at the club! 🥳🍻

🧹 Backup Cleaner Wanted – Sports Club 🧹

We're looking for a reliable local cleaner who can provide occasional cover at our sports club when our regular cleaner is away on holiday or off sick.

This isn't a regular weekly position, but would suit someone looking for occasional additional cleaning work and who may be available at relatively short notice from time to time.

Duties would include general cleaning of our clubhouse, bar/function area, toilets, changing rooms and sports areas.

📍 Peterborough
⏰ Holiday & sickness cover as required, generally 4 hours per day
💷 Paid work – rate to be agreed

Experience would be preferred, and reliability is essential.

We have a slight issue with the patio door into the Club Lounge — it appears to be struggling with the extreme heat just as much as the rest of us! ☀️🥵

The door is currently sticking, so please don't try to slam or force it shut, as this could cause further damage.

We'll have a proper look once the temperatures have calmed down a little and everything has stopped trying to melt. 😄

🏑 Hockey Update

Pre-season preparations are well underway in the hockey area, with several improvement works already completed.

✅ Completed:

- Pitch surface renovation completed today (see photos).
- Astroturf refixed to the side boards earlier this week.
- New solar-powered lights installed along the perimeter fence to provide safe lighting when leaving the pitch after the floodlights have been switched off.
- Tarmac re-laid to side of pitch to avoid debris coming onto playing surface

Still to come:

- Repairs to the perimeter fencing at both ends of the pitch.
- Preventative maintenance to the floodlights to ensure they're ready for the season.

All outstanding works are scheduled to be completed by 22 August.

The final job is the removal of the old hockey goals—we're just waiting to find a local scrap metal merchant who can collect them!

We're looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the new season.

New combination lockers have been installed in the ladies' front changing room and between the men's home and away changing rooms.

Instructions are displayed on or near each set of lockers. Please remember to reset the lock to the default code 3333 after you have finished using it, so it is ready for the next user.

Our meeting space has had an upgrade! Fully configurable for any event.
