U14s East – Lisa Evans League
Jeanfield Jesters 2–1 Arbroath Maroons
On saturday we welcomed Arbroath to Perth for our second competitive meeting of the season — a frustrating game that never quite settled into any rhythm.
First Half
We started brightly, with Jess sliding a wide ball to Nia, who drove from almost halfway, weaving through midfield and defence before her shot was deflected wide for a corner.
The game then became scrappy, with both sides struggling to create anything meaningful. The Jesters struck first when Annabelle’s corner found Orlagh at the back post, who managed to get a foot on it and knock home our opener.
From there, we made hard work of the game — a big step away from last week’s fantastic performance. Arbroath showed early that their intent was to play balls in behind. Even though we recognised it, we struggled to organise ourselves to deal with it, and they eventually capitalised with a ball through the middle that wasn’t dealt with and a clean strike from the forward levelled the match.
Several changes in the half took time to settle, and although we managed their forward play more convincingly, we couldn’t find our rhythm.
HT 1–1
Second Half
The second half began much like the first ended: scrappy, wind‑affected play with long balls swirling unpredictably and neither side linking anything convincing. Once the changes settled, though, we started to see more intent. With Annabelle up top, Amber‑Lilly wide and Jess with Iris through the middle, our forward play improved, and Nia found far more success down her side. Communication picked up, and our passing and link‑up play began to sharpen.
The girls knew they’d have to fight for the win. Ten minutes in, an Annabelle corner dropped kindly to Jess, who looped a ball into the box. Amber‑Lilly met it at the back post and, much like Orlagh earlier, managed to knock it in, which felt like slow motion at the time but what a fantastic effort from her to find the back post and score her first goal for the team 🥳 Well done Amber-Lilly!
The game wasn’t over, Arbroath responded with a strike towards goal, but Taylor produced an incredible fingertip save, pushing it onto the post before gathering the rebound. That moment kept us ahead and sparked fresh motivation as the Jesters pushed for a third.
Arbroath continued with their counter‑attacking approach, but Clooney, Poppy and Olivia held firm, supported by Erin — who once again found herself at centre‑back. It’s not her preferred position, but she was solid, vocal and composed throughout.
A frustrating 70 mins of football, but the half ended positively and with 3 more points on the board.

A fully deserved shout. She was positive, drove forward confidently, and her hard work in training is clearly paying off. She’s been patient from the sideline, taken feedback on board, and today she delivered — scoring the winning goal and making a real impact.
🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Match – Erin
Showed her adaptability once again. She made an incredible half‑pitch recovery run to intercept an attack on goal, and when moved to centre‑back she was solid, vocal and composed. Her pace remains unmatched.
A shout‑out also to Taylor, who stepped into goal for Mia with real confidence. She made fantastic saves and played calmly out from the back. We missed her at centre‑back, but she showed exactly what she can bring when called upon in goal. 🧤
