I don't care how tired someone is after a workout

For years, the fitness industry has sold the idea that:
More sweat = better
More soreness = better
More suffering = better
So people leave workouts feeling broken and assume it must be working
But here's the problem...
Being exhausted isn't a goal
It's just a feeling

When a client trains with me, I'm thinking about things like:
Can they move better?
Can they get off the floor more easily?
Can they carry heavier shopping?
Can they walk further without discomfort?
Can they trust their body more than they did last month?
Because that's what actually improves quality of life

Every programme I write has one goal:
To make someone more capable than they were before
Not just in the gym
In life
Because a strong body gives you more options in life
And every session should move you closer to that

One rep
One session
One week at a time

What's something physical you'd love to find easier a year from now?

Twenty years ago, I broke my kneecap
And honestly?
It scared the life out of me

For months, everyday things felt difficult
Walking
Stairs
Getting comfortable
Trusting my own body
I suddenly realised how much I'd taken movement for granted
Because when something is taken away...
You appreciate its value very quickly

What surprised me most wasn't how much strength I'd lost
It was how much strength I could regain
At the time, I genuinely wondered:
"Will this ever feel normal again?"
But the body is incredibly adaptable when you give it the right reasons to adapt

I started small
Then I got stronger
Then stronger again
What started as rebuilding a broken knee eventually led me to become an ultrarunner and a European Champion
Not because those were the goals
Because capability opens doors
Eventually:
πŸƒ I ran 100km in a single day
πŸ† I became a European Champion in Kettlebell Sport
πŸ’ͺ I can perform single-leg squats on the leg I once worried I'd never trust again
Not because I'm special
Because capability can be rebuilt
One step at a time
That's why I believe ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things
They just need a body that can keep up

What's something your body used to do easily that you'd love to get back?

I think most people are training for the wrong thing

We're taught that exercise is about:
Losing weight βš–οΈ
Burning calories πŸ”₯
Getting smaller 🀏
Looking better πŸ˜‰

And while there's nothing wrong with those things...
They're not what matters most

The real value of training isn't what it takes away
It's what it gives back
Energy πŸ”‹
Confidence πŸ’ͺ
Freedom 🌍
Capability πŸš€
The ability to say yes when life presents an opportunity

When you build strength and resilience:
You move better
You recover faster
You trust your body more
And suddenly things that felt difficult become possible again
Not because you're obsessed with fitness
Because you're prepared for life
A strong body doesn't just change how you look
It changes what becomes possible

What's one thing you'd love to be physically capable of doing that feels out of reach right now?
πŸ‘‡ Tell me below

Most people don't wake up one day and realise they're weak

It happens gradually
A little less energy πŸͺ«
A little less strength πŸ’ͺ
A little more stiffness πŸͺ΅
A little more hesitation πŸ€”

Until one day you catch yourself thinking:
"This never used to be hard"
Getting up off the floor πŸ‘†
Carrying the shopping πŸ›οΈ
Walking up stairs πŸͺœ
Keeping up with the kids πŸ‘Ά

The scary part?
Most people think this is normal
That it's just part of getting older
I don't
Ageing is inevitable
Decline isn't

Strength isn't about six packs
Fitness isn't about punishment
Training isn't about becoming obsessed with the gym

It's about maintaining your ability to do the things that make life enjoyable
The stronger and more capable you become, the more options life gives you
Most people don't realise they're becoming less capable until something they care about becomes harder
I believe ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things
You just need a body that can keep up

What's one thing you used to find easy that feels harder these days?

Fitness was easy when your biggest responsibility was deciding where to go on a Friday night

Now?
You've got work
Family
A house to maintain
A phone that's constantly buzzing

And somehow you're supposed to find time to train, meal prep, recover properly and get eight hours of sleep

No wonder so many people feel like they're failing

The reality is that fitness after 30 is a completely different game

The goal isn't to train more

The goal is to train smarter

To stop trying to follow plans designed for people with unlimited free time

And start building a system that fits your actual life

Because the strongest people I know aren't the ones doing the most

They're the ones who stay consistent when life gets busy.
Strong is the standard

πŸ‘‡ What's the biggest thing that gets in the way of your training?

08/06/2026

What worked at 25 probably isn't working anymore...

And that's annoying 😠

You used to be able to get away with almost anything
Skipping sleep 😴
Training randomly πŸ‹οΈ
Eating whatever was convenient πŸŽ‚
And still stay reasonably lean and fit

But now?

A stressful week shows up on your waistline
A few bad nights of sleep affect your workouts
And trying to "just work harder" doesn't seem to get the same results

Most people assume age is the problem

It isn't

The real problem is that life changed... but the strategy didn't

You're trying to use a 25-year-old's approach in a 40-year-old's life

With
More responsibilities πŸ“ˆ
More stress 😧
Less recovery πŸͺ«
Less spare time ⏰

The answer isn't more cardio

It isn't training harder

And it definitely isn't starting another extreme diet on Monday

The answer is building a system that fits the life you have now
More structure πŸͺ¨
More strength training πŸ’ͺ
Better recovery πŸ›Œ
More consistency ☺️

Because after 30, success isn't about doing more

It's about doing what matters consistently

Strong is the standard

πŸ‘‡ What's the biggest difference you've noticed between training now and training in your 20s?
