Spring means plant-raising time at Hotchpotch Organics, and we’ll be back at Stroud Farmers Market next Saturday 12th April with a range of vegetable plants for your greenhouses, gardens and allotments.
We’ve got tomatoes, peppers, chillis, cucumbers, courgettes, squash and more; garden standards, traditional heirlooms and new modern varieties. If you’d like to browse a full list of what we’re growing and when it will be ready, please have a look at our plant list https://tinyurl.com/3eypj458

Well... we'd hoped for an easier spring and once again, we're contending with incessant wet conditions. Consequently, we're hugely appreciative of our new indoor facilities and the space to keep on going and preparing for a very busy May.

The first of our potted veg plants are ready to go and will be available at
Stroud Farmers Market tomorrow. Once we've finalised our list we'll put up a link to the document covering our full range for this season for order and collection from the farm.

Whilst we're hoping for clement conditions to allow for cultivations in the field, we'd like to remind customers that the plants will need a bit of extra protection for a few more weeks. Ideally a greenhouse but a sunny window will do in the short term.

Ahhh, we have been severely lacking in the socials this year. Always the last tool to be picked up when we are flat out doing the work on the ground. Not aided by two dropped phones, intermittent internet and a huge to do list.

News from the farm is that we are growing into our amazing new facilities and regaining the rhythms of the seasonal jobs. Who knew moving was so stressful? An uprooting that has been exciting and exhausting in equal measures.

Let's focus on the exciting. This winter we have a new enterprise of dried flowers. We've never had suitably dry storage space to make this a possibility before and we are pleased to be able to offer an everlasting version of our summer bounty. These will be available at the ARTS AND CRAFTS MARKET tomorrow at STROUD FARMERS MARKET.

So if you're looking for a sustainable gift for loved ones this Christmas, come and have a peruse. It will be delightful to see you! 😁

We haven’t posted much recently, because we’ve been extremely busy moving site, sorting out our new facilities, and tweaking our working practices to match them.
We’re definitely getting there; and in spite of our depressing or reassuringly traditional British spring (depending on how you view it), we have a great range of veg plants on the way to plant in your gardens and allotments: a wide variety of tomatoes, squashes, sweet peppers, chillis, courgettes, cucumbers, climbing French beans, some herbs, brassicas and others - even watermelons!
These will be available on our stall at Stroud Farmers Market from Saturday, April 22nd onwards (or for collection by arrangement). Here’s a link to a list of what we have growing and when these should be available. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CFWHcCoS0oljeXnnhJFGiQScOs9ouByw/view?usp=share_link
Wishing you all a bountiful season, with gentle weather and a chance to sit and enjoy productive gardens and the wildlife that lives there.

Waking up to a whiteout this morning. Thankfully all our seedlings were tucked up and protected.
It's great to know we've some keen gardener friends who are wanting to kick off their growing season and we will be back supplying as soon as our seedlings have sized up, this is usually towards the end of April.
We'll keep you posted re our market dates and availability.

The snow is a reminder that tender plants should be cosseted and can be easily lost if bought too early. We're just as eager to get a march on and are waiting for temperatures to rise to start sowing things out in the field.

Far from hibernating, we've been busy working on upgrading our dilapidated greenhouses and polytunnel. New facilities are coming along nicely and once up and running we'll be able to significantly extend our cropping season. Very excited and looking forward to being able to add some heat loving greenhouse offerings to our repertoire in the coming years. 😀

Stay safe and see you soon.

Well...what a rollercoaster of a year to say the least. The highs of a good growing season didn't quite managing to override the lows of the Covid pandemic.

More than ever, the Hotchpotch bubble has appreciated time indoors over Christmas, sheltering from the weather and feasting on the fruits of our labour. It's with these simple pleasures in mind that we'd like to thank our stalwart customers, old and new, and wish all of you a lighter, kinder 2021.

Stay warm and stay safe. Happy New Year! 🌱

Having spent time clearing the hail shredded leaves a few weeks ago, we're very pleased to be able to add spinach to our repertoire again. It's a personal fave.
Red Russian kale has also made the picking list. Delicious!

Cauliflowers are just soooo beautiful. We're always puffed up with pride when picking them and they are really coming into their own now. Our leeks have done well this year, perhaps a little too well judging by their circumference and they're still growing!
