🚨Kent International🚨

Last weekend saw a team of 5 from WPJC make the long journey to Gillingham 🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋

Bethannie - out with a strong group of 10 girls. Showing she belongs there 💪 holding her own, against girls a couple of years older is no easy feat. We knew heading to this event it would be tough, and she would get tested. Picking up 2 wins out of 4, and a 5th place finish makes us very proud of her 🙌 this little lady is without question a determined and dedicated student. Massive well done 🔥

Summer - had five fights, won through to the final with an array of judo techniques 😍 uchi mata, ko sotos, an uchi mata into o uchi for a well deserved 🥈 losing the final to much taller judoka. Although she was worried before the final, she still managed to defend incredibly well. I’m sure the next time she fights someone as tall she feel much better prepared 😎

Maddie - had six fights in total 😳 losing her first one to a 14-year-old. But she came back strong, beat that same opponent to earn her place in the semifinals, and despite a small mistake there, walked away with an incredible 🥉 A gutsy and inspiring performance! Despite being predominantly right handed, she had most success on her left side. Something I like all WPJC judokas to be able to do 🔥

Perran - usually a defensive fighter, but stepped up and gave it everything!! 🙌 1 win, 2 losses — we’re super proud of his performance. We knew this event attracts a lot of decent players, it was imperative Perran did the judo we know he’s capable of, which he did!! Great stuff young man 👍

Izzy - sadly only the opponent 🤦🏻‍♂️ Losing the first, but came back fighting with grit to win the next two. Both girls left everything out there 👏 — a battle of heart, and determination in the final match up. With Izzy pulling it off 🥳 we knew her day was due. Having some bumps in the road at previous events. It was great to see her winning again!

You may of heard about this on the National news 🧐 it’s a course designed for the elderly. Where studies show that the application of Judo Ukemi’s leads to safer falls, less injuries and increased confidence 🙏

🥇BJC “OPEN” NATIONAL CHAMPION 2025🥇

GOOD DARTS DYLAN 4 fights, 4wins 💪 and with some tough opposition, it was nice to see him getting tested! Especially after breezing his way through the Cornish open. Hitting big ippon throws once again. This young man is slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with!! He has big goals 🙌 and so he should…. Here at WPJC we always do our best to help our students fulfil their goals and to take them as far as they wish to go in this sport. We wish him the very best going forward…. Train hard, fight easy 🤟

🥉BJC “OPEN” NATIONAL BRONZE 2025🥉

GREAT EFFORT FROM IZZY! 2 fights 2 losses, doesn’t sound good. Nor look good! However I can assure you this girl can fight 💪 Sunday just wasn’t her day 😭 she will win this event!! I’ve spent a long time working with Izzy and not only can she fight, she has extensive knowledge of judo. A valued member of our team. We look forward to seeing her back to winning ways soon 🙏🔥🙏

🥇BJC “OPEN” NATIONAL CHAMPION 2025🥇

WELL DONE SUMMER having 4 fights, and 4 wins 💪this was an amazing achievement, only turning into a junior just 2 weeks ago 😳 undoubtedly the youngest in her group, she rose to the occasion! With some big girls in her group, she had to…. Hitting a massive uchi mata in the first fight. Followed by another, and then a harai goshi, winning the final with a huge o goshi, with just 4 seconds left on the clock! 😍 Here at WPJC we’re incredibly proud to have her on the team. More to come for sure 🔥🔥🔥

HUGE CONGRATS TO BETHANNIE who had 4 fights, 4 wins 💪 with some decent girls in her group, it looked like a tough day at the office. However, her dedication and determination made her opponents look “easy”. They certainly were not that!! She used what we’ve practiced over and over again at WPJC, to set up, and create her opportunities to get the job done 🙌 we’re incredibly proud of what this young lady has achieved thus far….. I’m confident we’ll see bigger and better things coming from her in the future 👏👏👏

Amaya went up to Bristol to fight in the Katana competition…..💪 securing 3 wins and scooping the 🥇 she’s trained hard, and got the results she was looking for 👏

Alora is our latest black belt…. This is earned through great etiquette, good listening and proving her judo knowledge is on point 👏👏👏 pleasure to teach such an enthusiastic student 🥋🥋🥋🙇🏻‍♂️
