Welcome to the group, everyone! 🐴🚙
​We created this space to raise awareness about horse safety on our roads. Our main goal is to help educate drivers on how to correctly and safely pass horses and riders so everyone gets home safely.

​To show just how vital this cause is, please send us your stories of any road-related near misses, injuries, or fatalities involving horses and riders.
​Sadly, these devastating incidents do happen, and lives—both human and equine—are lost. Without you sharing your experiences, we cannot show the true reality of the dangers or effectively advocate for change. We want to share these powerful stories through the group and the Pass Wide and Slow campaign to open drivers' eyes and show exactly why changing road behavior is a matter of life and death.

​How to submit: You can post your stories directly to the group page, or private message the admin team if you would prefer us to share it on your behalf.

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ TO THE END.
REPORT TO THE POLICE ALL CASES OF DANGEROUS DRIVING (Note some forces only give you 48hrs to do so).

Please follow the steps in order and remember only the police can act.

1) Report to police either via their website for submitting video evidence or 101 (if reporting via 101 ask for an incident number, many police forces will do everything they can not to give you a number but stand firm be polite and insist)

*** Suggestions for everyone when reporting these incidents >

1) Use one or more of these words "you was scared, worried, nervous, threatened"

2) Quote "inconsiderate/dangerous driving around vulnerable road users as defined under HC s215". (At least then the officer handling the report knows where to check)

Contact Police Scotland on this form. An officer gets back to you, and you email them your video clip.

2) Check with police if you have to remove any videos from social media
3) Make sure you keep an unedited version of any video evidence, and it needs to be 2 minutes on either side of the incident

4) Ensure that YOU have adhered to the highway code up to, during, and after the incident

5) Gain as much evidence as you can yourself, i.e., photographs of where the incident took place, other cctv footage if available, etc. as the police will not always do this type of investigation.

6) Log on BHS incident site (note we have checked, and they do not have the capacity to store videos)

If you are unhappy with the response from the police
> Put in an official complaint either by

1) Ringing and asking to speak to either the Duty Sargent or the Chief Constable

2) Online complaint

Visit our national dash cam safety portal to report an incident. This page also contains privacy information on how your footage will be used in compliance with our terms of use.
