Are the whites not tough enough? “Views from the Blues” at Silloth on Solway Golf Club

A few photos from today’s competition game off the blue tees at Silloth. It really does make a massive difference on some holes!

Which hole do you think it makes the biggest impact on? Maybe the 5th or 13th?

A solid game today, 35 points with 3 x N/R’s (H.I 9, PH 12) with 3 holes preventing the chance of a competitive score. NR’s on 6, 13 and 16 but a 2 on 12 softens the blow 😄 Great chatter with Kev, Bryan and Degs ⛳️

Looking back on a top game at Silloth on Solway Golf Club with Corey, Josh and David Molyneux ⛳️

Josh and Corey are both US Military guys are were up in the Lakes for a summer break, taking in the scenery and playing at Appleby, Cockermouth and their first ever links experience at Silloth. Their first experience of links bunkers 😄

We had a fab game, great fun with all of us playing some great golf (and some not) and we just about made it round in daylight after a late tee start. The course was in super order, a stiff breeze to keep it interesting and lots of roll on the fairways! Top guys, really enjoyed the game and looking forward to a 🇬🇧 v 🇺🇸 next time ⛳️

We love a hidden gem ⛳️

A few snaps from my visit to a true hidden gem Silecroft Golf Club ⛳️ for a game with the head greenkeeper Simon Witham

What a fun course from start to finish with seaside holes, Lake District fell backdrops and a fair test of golf.

It’s a 9 hole layout, but with 18 different tee positions which change the way you play the holes and how the natural sand scrape areas affect your tee shot decisions, that and some tricky bunkering in the mix as well.

The greens were in super order and super quick ⛳️ Simon and the team have already carried out some fantastic course improvements and with more planned through the off season it’s only going to get even better! Thanks to Simon for guiding me round and sharing the course plans.

Take advantage of the recent fine weather and get yourself there for a game! A bargain £20 for 9 holes and deals available for county card holders.
