How to play those winter lies?

Well check what Pro Tim D***s does. Boggy, frozen ground isn’t going to make you better next year.

Getting in the gym and adding speed work will.
-
The priority this winter isn’t to get some cold. Frozen. Boggy rounds in. It’s about building a bigger. Faster and strong base ready for next season.

60 cal buy in

Then
4 rounds
18 DB power cleans
24 plank shoulder taps

On this workout. Push hard on the buy in. Don’t go max effort but keep the intensity up and drive that HR up.

Once you are done get onto the DB and start working through the 4 rounds. Keeping rest today a minimum aiming to move well but with purpose.

Keep the core tight on the plank taps, which will just be made harder by the elevated HR and fatigue setting in.

25 Russian swings
20 step ups

This is a decent volume set of Russian swings so really focus on the hinge pattern and driving the kettlebell up with the hips and glutes. Don’t over rely on the lower back.

On the step ups try and move at a consistent tempo and choose a box height that is going to be challenging.

Posterior chain blaster

21-15-9

DB deadlift
Back step lunge

Complete this workout as 21 deadlifts with 2 dumbbells, 21 back step lunge alternating legs, 15-15, 9-9 rest for 3 minutes then go again.

Both these movements are going to hit the posterior chain so the volume will leave you with some great glute and back pump! Strong posterior chain means a strong person.

20 BB hang power clean and press
 
This is a fun little combo to get after, the bike will jack the heart rate right up, then its onto moving an empty bar. Its light and easy to move but while that HR is flying up how much can you control the movement and move efficiently through the reps.

ROW ROW ROW

How far can you row in 10 minutes?

How far can you row in 10 minutes with 5 burpees every minute.

That’s what we are finding out.

On 3-2-1 go complete 5 burpees. Then get on the rower and row. When the clock hits 1 minute do 5 more burpees then back on that rower, try and keep a consistent pace and rate on the rower. And make the transitions as smooth as possible

Remaining time
As many DB sn**ch as possible.
 
 
Why do I love this format? You push hard on the bike, fire through some unilateral work, try and recover then go again.
 
The heart rate is racing and you just have to keep moving.

Empty bar workout
 
 
High rep, high volume, 1 barbell and just move.
 

100 bent over rows
100 strict press
100 hang cleans
100 push press
 

High volume push pull, try to hold on for as long as possible then recover and keep moving. The strict press will fatigue the shoulders so the importance of the leg drive in the push press will start to play a role. Keeping the lats tight on the bent over rows to keep as much tension as possible in the upper body.

Unilateral KB conditioning
 
 
12 rounds
 
6 each arm alternating each round
 
10 single arm swings
10 single arm row
10 single arm push press
 
 
Try to hold on to each round for an unbroken set, push the grip as well as taxing the body in a single arm pattern, keeping the core tight during the swings, then adding he push and pull strength in the format of rows and push press.
