Penmachno mountain bike trails

🥳 Happy New Year 🥳

2025 has been a productive year for the volunteer trail team. This has included strimming, de-berming, fence building, trail repair and clearing.

We have also recently launched a new website:
https://www.penmachnobiketrails.org.uk/

Looking ahead to 2026 we aim to start fixing some of the boardwalk sections which have begun to reach the end of their lifespan. This is a big job and we will aim to fix the more popular sections first. What we are able to achieve will be limited by our budget.

All your donations help towards the ongoing maintenance of the trails. The good news is there is a new phone mast near the village which currently supports EE (more networks in the future). This should help with our donations at the trailhead.

We wish you all the best for the new year and if you do venture onto the trails please keep an eye on the current diversions and don't forget to donate 😃

Trails closed. Due to fallen trees the trails are temporarily closed. We are working with NRW to get these cleared ASAP. These are big trees that are not passable (and are too big/caught up for us to clear with hand saws!). However, if you are familiar with the trails it is possible to work a shorter route around these sections. We'll update as soon they've been cleared. Thanks 😀

There is lots of storm debris and a good few trees down on the trails. Some of the trail team are planning on heading out this weekend to do some clearing and checking, we will update you once we know more.

It's been a tough year for the trails with multiple sections closed due to storm damage and a few other sections closed with damaged boardwalk.

The good news is some of the trees have finally been cleared and we can hopefully get these sections up and running soon. The local volunteer trail team have also been out strimming and de berming over the last few months.

Ongoing DIVERSIONS - Please follow any diversions in place (see attached pic). Please don't remove any diversion signage or tape from the trails.

All of Dolen Machno (red loop 1) is now open after NRW have cleared 2 landslides. The felling around Super Sych has been halted (because of the landslide) so the section has been re-opened. 😁

The storms have brought a few trees down across the trails and have caused 2 landslides. We haven't checked Dolen Eryri (loop 2) yet, so please ride with caution. On Dolen Machno (loop 1) Man a man a mwnci is closed due to a landslide, and there are trees on Chopsy (at very end of trail), Ffasti dau (about 50m in) and Bendigedig (after road crossing, partially across trail). The trees are fairly easy to spot and get around, and we're working with NRW to get them cleared ASAP.

Super sych (last section of trail on Dolen Machno) is currently closed for felling works. It should only be closed for a few weeks 🤞The diversion is down the forest track to the trail head. We'll post as soon as it is open again. Diolch 😀

Parking update. If you're riding the trails on a weekday, please don't park in the lower parking area. This needs to be kept clear so the timber trucks can turn up onto the track. If you park in the upper area, make sure you leave enough room for the trucks to drive past. Thanks 😃
