30 years of you ❤️

Watching you grow into the woman, wife and mother you are today has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. The way you’ve embraced motherhood this year and the love, patience and care you give to Charlie every single day only makes me admire you even more.

I’m incredibly grateful for everything we’ve built together so far and even more excited for everything still to come. If the first chapter of our story has been this good, I can’t wait to see what the next ones look like.

Happy 30th birthday to my best friend and favourite person. Thank you for making my birthday so special this week too!

Ahead of the Scottish Open this week and then the Open Championship next week, here are some thoughts on how to adapt your game to playing links golf.

One of the biggest mistakes golfers make on links courses is trying to fly every shot all the way to the target.

The ball will often release much more than you’re used to, so start using the ground to your advantage.

When the wind gets up, trying to hit shots harder usually makes things worse.

Take an extra club, make a smoother swing and focus on controlling your strike and trajectory.

Links golf rewards simplicity around the greens.

Get comfortable using putter, hybrids and low-running chips whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Links golf is often a game of position rather than aggression.

Play away from trouble, leave yourself good angles and accept that sometimes good shots get bad bounces.

The best way to train your impact feels. ⛳️

If you’re making swing changes, don’t go straight from setup to hitting the ball.

First, rehearse the impact position you’re trying to create. Then return to your setup and make your swing.

That quick rehearsal gives your brain a clear picture of the movement, making it much easier to recreate when it matters.

Simple. Effective. Easy to take from the range to the course.

Most golfers don’t slice because the clubface is open… they slice because of where the downswing starts.

If your first move from the top sends the club out towards the ball, you’ll almost always be fighting an out-to-in path.

This is one of my favourite drills for changing that.

Pause at the top, let the arms fall so the shaft matches the alignment stick, then simply rotate through to the finish.

It creates the feeling of the club working into delivery before you turn, making it much easier to approach the ball from the inside.

Still battling blocks, hooks or inconsistent strikes? This might be the reason. 👀⛳️
A lot of golfers make a good takeaway… then let the shoulders turn too flat and the arms work too much around the body.
That leaves the hands too deep, the club too far from the inside, and suddenly you’re fighting blocks, hooks and poor contact.
Instead, feel the lead arm working up and across the chest. That slightly higher position makes it much easier to deliver the club back in front of you and strike the ball more consistently.
The downswing often isn’t the problem… the top of the backswing is.

Struggling to hit longer drives?
You might be killing speed without realising it… 👀

A common issue I see is players pulling the shaft down with the hands in transition, but never properly releasing the clubhead.

What happens?
➡️ The clubface stays open — hello blocks and pushes right
➡️ You lose speed — because the clubhead never gets a chance to accelerate properly

The feel we worked on here using the alignment stick was from the top of the swing, almost feeling like you’re throwing the clubhead down at the ball.

Not an early cast… a well-timed release.

As the body starts to rotate and brace into impact, that release helps:
✅ Square the face
✅ Create more speed
✅ Deliver max clubhead speed where it matters most — at impact

Remember: speed isn’t just about moving faster… it’s about when the club speeds up.

Struggling with heavy, thin or inconsistent strikes?

A big reason is often poor low point control.
This simple ball-forward drill is a great way to improve it. 👇

By moving the ball slightly forward in your stance, you create a challenge: if your low point stays too far back, you’ll hit the ground early or struggle to strike the ball cleanly.

To hit good shots from this setup, you’re forced to:
✅ Keep pressure moving into the lead side
✅ Shift the bottom of your arc further forwards
✅ Deliver the club more consistently through impact
The result?

Better turf interaction, cleaner strike, and more predictable ball flight.

Great ball strikers don’t just swing well — they control where the club bottoms out.

Master the low point, and your strike quality improves massively. 🎯

One of the biggest mistakes golfers make in competition?

Giving far too much importance to one round.
You turn one medal, one stableford, or one bad front nine into a judgement of your entire game… and that pressure usually leads to tighter swings, poorer decisions, and frustration.

The truth is, a single round doesn’t define you.
Golf is a game of variance. Good shots get bad outcomes. Bad shots sometimes get away with it.
Instead of obsessing over the score, shift your focus to your process:

✔️ Commit fully to every shot
✔️ Pick smart targets
✔️ Stick to your routine
✔️ Accept the outcome and move on

That’s where consistency lives.

You can’t always control the result…
But you can control how well you prepare, commit, and respond.
Play the process.
Let the score take care of itself.
